"Yes We Can... and Did": a Potluck and Dialogue will be hosted by the Progressive Students of Idaho State University on Thursday, Nov 20, at 6:00 PM at ISU's Little Wood River Room in the Pond Student Union.
Topics of discussion will be looking forward toward how, at the local level, our community can build momentum and action on policies likely to be supported by an Obama administration and a Democratic Congress, including areas such as the environment, healthcare, education and the economy.
Linda Burke from the students community service center, Don Allen from the curbside recycling committee, and more will stimulate discussion by talking about possibilities on the local level. We will also have a nationwide conference call with folks at MoveOn about the next steps to take in supporting the new administration in pursuing progressive policies.
For the potluck, bring a dish or dessert or something to share. (With a serving spoon if needed.) Drinks & other dishes and silverware will be provided. If you don't have time to make something, forget, or can't bring a dish for some reason, don't let that stop you either. Food will probably be plentiful.
And then at 8:00 PM, relax and enjoy the award winning indy comedy Expiration Date. Winner of multiple
awards including the American Indian Film Festival's Best Picture, this
film follows Charlie Silvercloud III who is cursed with the fate of his
father and grandfather who both died on their 25th birthday. As the
day draws close he prepares for his fate, but a woman enters his life
and changes everything. This played out on the quad this summer and
several have asked if we would show it again, so we will. Great
movie. Admission is free.
