I'm a veggie person, but I've heard Lau Farms is
good. Here's a link....www.laufamilyfarm.com/

Good book, huh? I saw this all come together when I was in New Zealand a
couple years ago. They have figured it out. Perhaps we should stop trying to
feed the whole world or even our whole country from these large industrial
monocultures and return to more localized farming and growing as the book
describes.
And speaking of that, where do you go to find locally grown meat?
I know in Boise
you can find families at the Farmers’ Market but that’s during the summer and
fall and over there. Do you know of anything or anyone that’s reputable over
here? We support a couple of 4-H kids so maybe that’s the way to go.

You would do well to read ALL of the book,
The Omnivores’ Dilemma, to understand the proper role of raising
cattle in the whole continuity of food production. 4-footed animals have
their place on the farm and cattle would do better if they were returned to
the grass fed farms they originally grazed and got out of the feed lots.
Read the book. It is well worth your time. It is complicated but it all
makes sense in the end.
