Description
|
This group website is dedicated to the discussion of all aspects of Pteridophytes of the Indian subcontinent and adjacent regions. Both professional scientific researchers and those with horticultural interests or amateur newcomers to an interest in ferns are encouraged to participate with comments or questions. It is hoped that discussion at different levels from all sides will help provide answers and encourage the spread of fern-study throughout the region.
All you need to do is type the group website address, www.groups.yahoo.com/group/Indian-Ferns and register yourself where it says. There are messages, photographs and document files concerning any aspect of pteridology. The copyright and priority on anything you contribute remains with you.
Identifications (by means of photographs posted), queries, how to recognise species; information about fern taxonomy, distribution, cytology, morphology, variation, phytogeography, anatomy, ecology, conservation and rarity, cultivation, fern-gardens, spore-growing, literature references, herbaria, ethnobotany, folklore, fern-excursions and expeditions, recent finds, new species, molecular study etc. are all aspects welcome on this site.
Whether you have recently been on a fern-study excursion, or have found an unidentified fern in a garden, please tell others about it and share in the discussion! The answers are often out there somewhere and there is a mass of unsung expertise in this highly botanically diverse and rich region; why not join in and see if you can help find the answers for yourself and the many others who share a passion for ferns and fern-allies.
Ferns are fascinating; South Asian pteridophytes are amazing, and there is so much more left to discover!
