We're having a great summer here at Idealware, and hope you are too! We're
developing new reports and articles, and continue to work hard to make sure you
have access to timely, unbiased research. To that end, we have a full line-up of
great seminars in July to help you make the most of your technology.
Idealware's online seminars are designed to give nonprofits the tactical advice
they need to make software decisions. They are capped at 25 participants, to
ensure all your questions are answered. Many are selling out these days, so
register early.
Each of these online seminars is $40 per participant, and all you need is an
internet connection and a phone line to participate.
Here's the course schedule for the next month or so:
Editing a Website without Technical Skills http://tinyurl.com/luvqy7 Thursday,
July 16th, 1:00 - 2:30 EST If you need a way to update your website, but you're
not sure where to start, this is the session for you. In this online seminar,
we'll talk about what content management systems are, and look at various
affordable options for updating your website text and images, including using
What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get software like DreamWeaver and Contribute,
website-in-a-box tools like Homesite, blog tools like WordPress, open source
tools like Joomla and Drupal, and more
Choosing Broadcast Email Software http://tinyurl.com/qcmpx7 Wednesday, July
22nd, 1:00 - 2:30 EST Mass emails - for eNewsletters, fundraising appeals, or
action alerts - are a great way to reach out your audience, but it can be
complex to send and track thousands of emails. We'll walk through what you need
to know and talk about some of the reliable and affordable (even free!) tools
most useful for nonprofits
Getting Started with Online Personal/Team Fundraising http://tinyurl.com/mao7w3
Wednesday, July 29th, 1:00 - 2:30 EST Leverage the passion of your staff,
volunteers, and supporters by asking them to fundraise for you! There's a class
of new software tools that help your supporters setup their own fundraising page
(with their own stories, pictures, and fundraising targets) and then solicit
their contacts on behalf of your organization. We'll talk through some best
practices for succeeding with distributed fundraising, and take a look at some
of the software options available to support it.
Considering Social Media for Your Organization http://tinyurl.com/nswnma
Wednesday, August 5th, 1:00 - 2:30 EST There's a lot of talk these days about
social media - blogs, RSS, podcasts, YouTube, Flickr, Del.icio.us, social
networking, MySpace, Facebook, oh my! What are these things, and why do they all
have funny names? How can they help you to engage your constituents and spread
the word about your organization? We'll provide a hype-free lookat at how social
media tools and techniques can fit into your online communications mix, how to
make they work for you, and some examples of what other organizations are doing.
Comparing Open Source CMSs: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Plone
http://tinyurl.com/nqjorj Thursday, August 6th, 1:00 - 2:30 EST Open source
content management systems (CMS) are particularly attractive to the nonprofit
community because of their cost-efficiency, but what do these systems actually
do? And what are the differences between the most common CMSs? We'll compare
WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Plone for typical nonprofit needs, demo each of
the systems, and answer your questions.
