NPower Community Technology Survey – Results and Analysis
A few months ago, NPower circulated a nonprofit Community Technology
Survey aimed to identify not only which applications are in use, but
also the patterns of use and what drives selection. Over 1,000
nonprofits from various sectors have responded and we are pleased to
present the survey findings in the report below. Results of this
survey will help the larger nonprofit technology assistance provider
community understand how to best meet the needs of the nonprofit
sector. A sample of the findings are as follows:
- IT is still a small part of a nonprofit’s overall focus as
lack of funding and ongoing costs call for a higher level of quality
and affordability in the nonprofit IT services arena.
- Many tasks that are critical to the success of a nonprofit
are conducted in a manual manner as paper and spreadsheet based
methods are widely used throughout.
- There is a need for collaborative technology as many
nonprofits are concerned about integration of separate systems,
organizational sharing of key documents and overall data quality.
The report is also posted on the NPower website:

Congratulations to our three randomly selected IPod shuffle winner:
- Brandon Combs of Interfaith Council for the Homeless, Chicago
- Roz Goldmacher of Long Island Development Corporation, New York
- Eva Reffell of Legal Services, NTAP, California
