I have never been a privacy advocate - but I seem to be shifting. Until and
unless I get to own my "own" personal information I am beginning to have serious
reservations.
Like your examples of ambivalence, I showed rapleaf to a journalist friend of
mine. She was horrified at the implications - not just of rapleaf but of what
rapleaf type engines can do (and are doing). And likewise - being a Journalist
and a teacher - of course - she is going to use it - and have her students use
it. It is just for her family she is encouraging them to take down their
networking pages or not use them at all.
It sort of reminds me of doctors who recommend surgery for their patients but
refer their family to nutrition and lifestyle change agents and resources for
their own families.
