Here are some more new photos, but in a new thread so things don't get too
confusing like they did in the 'quiet around here' thread.

Thanks for viewing. IR is fun and there is always a bit of expectation
and yet really not full knowing what is going to happen until you look
at the LCD. I am glad that I have the options of extended color with
the Lifepixel conversion. Jerry

I have been following the many post and photo images on this site for some time.
I purchased a FujiFilm, FinePix IS1 for IR photography. In taking photos in B&W
all looks great. When I shoot in color I get a very 'pinkish' looking image. I
have seen some images like this but the ones I really like have more color
depth, more of a 'bluish tint'. The most recent example would be of Jerry
Hug's image of "Ghost Town" - Bannack, Montana

Is their reference information that I could follow to help me make better color
IR photos?

Thanks to all for your inspiration

Tim

Hi,
  I'm also a newbie but the pinkish looking image is normal, later on you
need to post-process the image to get the fake color, the blue-ish nice one.
Have a look to the following tutorial by Naomi Frost, is really an eye
opener (

)

Subject: FOR SALE: IR-modified Canon 20d - huge lot!

Greetings,

I am selling my trusty, infrared-modified Canon 20D with lots of
accessories. This Canon 20D was converted to infrared approx. 2 years
ago by Lifepixel. I received the IR-blocking filter back from
Lifepixel after the conversion, and this filter is included in this
listing, this would allow the camera to be converted back to visible
light if desired.

I am guesstimating the frame-count is 25,000 to 35,000, so with an
expected shutter life of 100,000 this camera should have plenty of
life left. The usual spots have wear marks: hot shoe mount, and the
hooks for the camera strap. I am the first owner, and I always treated
this camera with care, so it has not been abused. I am selling this
camera because I just upgraded to the 5D Mark II. I not aware of any
issues with this camera - It has never gave me any issues, and it
never had to be repaired.

The items included are:

# Canon 20D body (infrared-modified)
   * sealed, never used software disks (EOS Digital Solutions disk,
Canon Digital Professional, Adobe Photoshop Elements)
   * sealed, never used data cables (video cable, USB cable)
   * sealed, never used Canon BP-511A battery with instructions
   * sealed, never used Canon EOS camera strap
   * sealed, never used instructions (one set in english, one set in
another language [spanish?])
   * original Canon IR-blocking filter
   * like new original box

# three (3) high capacity (2000 mAh) BP-511-compatible batteries (all
of these hold charge well)

# Canon Zoom Lens EF 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 III

# Lowepro camera bag

# Sandisk Ultra II 2 GByte Compact Flash card (NOT SHOWN IN
PHOTOGRAPHS) - (included in Canon 20D price)
   * case for CF card
   * new never used keychain pouch from Sandisk (securely holds two CF cards)

# Canon CA-PS400 Compact Power Adapter (sequentially charges two
BP-511 batteries - standard 20D charger only charges one battery; also
allows the camera to be connected to mains using the power adapter
cable) - $40
   * power adapter cable (connects the camera to mains via Canon
Compact Power Adapter)

# never used Canon CR-560 Car Charge Adapter (charges BP-511 batteries
from 12V in car)

# like new Canon BG-E2 Battery grip
   * never used Canon BGM-E2 Battery Magazine
   * instructions
   * like new box

Photographs of the items for sale can be seen at:

taken with this infrared-modified 20D.

NOTE: I've seen websites claim that the 35-80 is not suitable for IR.
In my own testing, I was NOT able to produce a hot spot with this
lens. So as far as I am concerned, this lens works for IR. But see for

Canon CA-PS400 - $60
Canon CR-560 - $75
Canon BG-E2 - $80

Thanks Rene. I really enjoy IR and many times I do not need HDR with
Infrared because it has a way of opening up shadows and controlling
highlights.  Jerry

Appears that my first look produced a price on the 62mm that was WAY out of line
(based on what they fetch on eBay.

Updated prices follow. Filters like new and come with original case.

Hoya R72 (IR) 62mm  Asking $35
Hoya R72 (IR) 77mm  Asking $160

I've found that my converted Canon G9 makes a good native B&W camera even
when the IR effects are minimal. For example on a gray rainy November day in
the Pacific Northwest. (is there any other kind of day in November in the
PNW?)

Lovely dreamlike image. You certainly made the day work for you. It
reminds me of the still water sloughs in the San Joaquin Valley, many
years ago. I wonder if irrigation needs have dried them up by now?
Nostalgic image for me.

Thanks Susie. I believe this is a naturally occurring slough - tidal, in
fact. The island we were on though has been augmented by dikes over the
years.

Now it worked fine. Were all three pix IR both from the G9 and G10?
The effect of the white leaves on the log really works. The pier
shadows and lines is also very good.
