Subject: [crimemap] The IACA Training Conference starts in 24 days!
Greetings!
The International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) is pleased to
continuing accepting on-line registrations for the 2003 Training Conference
in Kansas City, Missouri. An updated brochure and master schedule are now
available on the website. Information on the hotel, schedules,
transportation, costs, etc. can also be found at http://www.iaca.net.
Costs for this conference are being kept to a very minimum - registration
is $250 for members and $275 for nonmembers. The closest airport uses
airport code "MCI" (Kansas City International). The Westin Crown Center
Hotel serves as this year's conference hotel and rates are ONLY $99 per
night single/double and $119 per night triple/quad. Shuttle transportation
between the airport and hotel is just $23 round trip.
This year's conference features a whole new format with more computer
classes, training classes, hands-on activities, and more student
involvement than ever before. Fifteen (15) vendors will be intricately
involved in demonstrating and teaching their products, as well as teaching
several of the conference classes. The vendors will be hosting a number of
conference events. Additionally, a ***FREE*** one-day pre-conference is
being scheduled for Sunday, October 26th which includes computer classes
using i2 Analyst Notebook, ATAC by Bair Software, BCS, The Omega Group and
other crime analysis training products. Additionally, a vendor showcase
with scheduled demonstration times will be offered throughout registration
(Noon to 8pm) as well as appetizers through the day.
Online registration for the Pre-Conference Classes which will be held just
prior to the 2003 IACA Training Conference in Kansas City (MO) is now
available at http://www.iaca.net. Click on the SCHEDULE to see the
pre-conference class information and to register for the classes. You may
register for as many classes as you'd like, but you cannot register for
overlapping classes (the times for each class is listed on the schedule).
We fully expect to fill these classes. If you are planning to attend the
classes, please take the time to go to the website and sign up for the
appropriate classes now.
In addition to the hands-on Pre-Conference computer labs, the following
vendors will be conducting 30-minute product demonstrations (see schedule
for specific times): ESRI, Paisley Systems, Corona Solutions, iMapData,
Amcrin, SPSS, MapInfo, BCS, COPLINK, i2 Inc., and Bair Software. Featured
POST Conference Vendors include Pen-Link, GeoNorth, and ECRI.
You do NOT have to be registered to attend the conference in order to
attend the Pre and Post Conference Sessions (pre / post conference sessions
are FREE). Additionally, you do NOT need to pre-register for post
conference sessions - only the pre-conference classes require advanced
registration due to limited seating. Registrations for the main training
conference are still being accepted. More information, including hotel,
airport, shuttle, schedules, instructor information, class descriptions,
and a brochure can be found on the website.
On Tuesday and Wednesday very unique ***FREE*** Nite Outs will be offered
during the conference. An oversized hospitality room, stocked with sodas
and snacks will be provided nightly. Continental breakfast will be
provided Mon - Thurs, and full lunches provided Monday and Tuesday. A
dessert welcome reception sponsored by ESRI will be given Monday evening.
Each day, morning and afternoon snacks and soft drinks/tea/coffee will be
offered.
Featured speakers at the conference will include a very dynamic prosecutor
who uses crime analysis information often in court cases, a career bank
robber who's spent 20 years in prison and is now admitting to more than a
dozen "unsolved" robberies (a film "Kansas" was made about his life), and a
well known police officer turn crime researcher/analyst turn professor!
