Pictometry Now Taught as Part of California University of
Pennsylvania's GIS Curriculum

ROCHESTER, NY and CALIFORNIA, PA – February 1, 2007 – Pictometry
International Corp., the worldwide leader in digital, aerial oblique
imagery and measuring software today announced that its technology of
georeferenced, aerial oblique images and software are now part of the
GIS curriculum that is being taught at California University of
Pennsylvania's Geography and Emergency Management programs.

The programs will offer students the ability to experience first-
hand, Pictometry's world-class technology that is used in a wide
range of applications that include 9-1-1, community planning,
emergency management, fire fighting, geographic information systems
(GIS), homeland security, law enforcement, public safety, public
works, and transportation.

"We are very thrilled to be introducing this cutting-edge, geospatial
technology with its proven applications to our students who will be
part of the next generation of GIS professionals entering the
workplace," said Dr. Thomas Mueller, Ph.D., associate professor of
Geography and Director of the CalU Crime Mapping Center. "It is vital
that today's students are thoroughly equipped with real-world
experiences from leading technologies like Pictometry that they will
be using in the workplace."

Pictometry is the industry's most advanced oblique aerial imaging
system, enabling users to easily access up to 20 oblique (at an angle
in a 3D-like manner) aerial photos of any building, highway, or other
feature. The company's easy-to-use software enables users to
instantly obtain measurements such as distance, height, building
facades, and area directly from the Intelligent Images® as well as
overlay GIS data and create fully textured, Pictometry Real3D™
models. As an ESRI Developer Partner, Pictometry provides additional
GIS solutions that include an ESRI ArcGIS extension, ArcIMS
integration, ArcSDE support, and coordinate pass-through
capabilities.

Coursework where Pictometry will be used will include lectures,
workshops, and labs at the University's crime mapping center that
will require students to utilize Pictometry technology to create
crime maps, evaluate potential response plans, and discuss the use of
GIS in the role of emergency management operations. It will also be
used in planning classes to evaluate land uses and other related
applications. The Crime Mapping Center serves as a repository for
data storage; as a site for data analysis, including spatial analysis
of data and the production of crime maps; and as a training site for
police and others involved in crime prevention, investigation, and
enforcement. Future plans for the Pictometry program include a
certification process that students can qualify for as part of their
studies.
