Spatial Criminology Symposium Announcement
The Department of Criminal Justice at Temple University invites crime
mappers, graduate students and analysts to a graduate student
symposium on May 19th and 20th on the theme of spatial criminology.
Temple University's Department of Criminal Justice has invited
graduate students with an interest in spatial criminology to present
their work at a Graduate Student Symposium with an audience of faculty
and peers. The presentations are an ideal opportunity for everyone
interested in environmental criminology, the application of spatial
statistics to crime analysis, GIS and crime mapping, and the interface
between geography and crime to meet peers and network with key faculty
researchers in this dynamic and growing area of applied research.
A select group of the best graduate students in spatial criminology
will be in attendance, including presenters from the US, Canada,
Holland and Australia. Topics include advanced spatial statistics,
ambient population measures, spatial data mining, simulation modeling
and spatio-temporal approaches to crime. The symposium will also
feature a session on the future of spatial criminology with a group of
leading faculty from around the world.
Attendance at the symposium is free, however we do require interested
attendees register by 14th May. On-campus accommodation is available
for $37 or $32 per night.
