Jeffrey:
Please send me examples that you have found regarding the use of Pictometry
by newspapers. We have a blog that focuses on the use of geospatial
information by the mainstream media - maphawk.blogspot.com

Subject: [JAGIS-L] Pictometry launches new birdseye imagery products for
Graphics Editors
Greetings,
Pictometry has launched two new products that make it very affordable
for graphics editors to acquire the "birdseye" aerial imagery to help in
their graphics.
In the past, images were procured with a seat subscription and with a
cost per image download. Now all the seats that you could want as well
as unlimited downloads have now become available. See the new
attributes here:
Pictometry Simplicity Online (PSOL)
* Full screen viewing * Zoom from 25% to 1000% * Know the
date * Ability to Measure Height, Distance, Area,
Bearing/Angle, Elevation, Slope, Pitch, and Location * Ability to
extract a portion of the image or the image on the screen and save as a
Jpeg. All images for no additional charge. * View detailed straight
down images and Export (with a world file) for use in other GIS packages
Pictometry Online (all features above as well as below) (POL)
* Annotate images with icons, lines, circles, shading and save them
for access later. * Collaborate with other colleagues by sharing
annotation workspaces. * Host GIS layers to be made visible as a
layer.
You can see an overview of all features here:

Lastly, we provide you with a confidence level that you have found the
right property. This is based off a national database that utilizes
county GIS layers and returns the parcel centroid.
Here is how Pictometry is used by more than 20 newspapers' Graphic
Departments:
Everyday occurrences Traffic/Railroad accidents, buildings bought
and sold, crime scenes, building fires, environmental issues,
Interviews with neighbors on one block High price of gas, change
in races of neighbors, Katrina where are they now, Foreclosures
Planning subways, building feature enhancement, moving outside
objects, building on the WTC areas, waterfront/casino development, risk
identification, zoning squabbles, redevelopment
Stadiums New, old, enhancements to, where to pick up tickets,
where to view from afar
Terrorist objects identified Miami locations, LA location

CA mudslides, NYC building collapse, NYC building airplane hit. Danvers

your organization's cost to acquire aerial imagery or expand your local
