This group is primarily for communication among Behavior Analysts interested in joint control. Joint control is a phenomenon described by Lowenkron in a series of papers in the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. According to Lowenkron (2004), joint control occurs when a verbal topography, currently evoked by one stimulus, is additionally evoked by a second stimulus. Often the first operant is an echoic and/or self-echoic and the second operant is a tact or textual response. When the speaker is thus able to emit the same verbal topography under two different stimulus conditions this joint (stimulus) control evokes further verbal behavior, often a self-descriptive autoclitic ("I found the right one!") and, in some circumstances, an additional selection response may then occur.

Joint control provides an extension of Skinner's 1957 book Verbal Behavior. It is a parsimonious model that introduces no new concepts to the experimental analysis of behavior but makes use of already existing concepts and principles in order to explain a wide range of complex human behavior. This group is dedicated to exploring the theoretical, experimental and applied implications of joint control.
