C.G.Jung Society of Sydney

President's Letter.

Dear Friends and Members,

Already the end of the year is upon us, and with it our final meeting
and Christmas Drinks on Saturday November 11. I am delighted to
welcome Peter O’Connor back to the Jung Society to speak on Dreams in
Antiquity, in which he will explore the ancient Greek view of
dreaming and relate it to contemporary notions of dreaming. A great
topic from a wonderful speaker!

I have loved the last two talks Peter has given us; I do urge you to
come, and to stay on for the Christmas drinks at the Crown Plaza
Hotel. Tickets may be purchased on the night, but we would like to
know if you are planning to attend the Drinks so we can get catering
numbers right. Please RSVP to the Jung Society on 0423 203 583
immediately.

Last month’s speaker was Terence McBride, a former President of our
Jung Society. Terry,as ever, attracted a large crowd, and delivered a
rich and absorbing talk entitled Living the Inner Life in Today’s
World, which was beautifully illustrated with slides. Reflecting on
humanity’s relationship to the Divine image in the history of Western
consciousness, Terry beautifully elucidated Jung’s view of conscious
wholeness and the process of individuation, while also visiting
Taoist philosophy and the work of Australian artist William Robinson.
Ending with a simple yet highly eloquent dream Terry provided us with
a most satisfying meal to feed inner and outer life.

October was a big book month for the Jung Society. We were most
grateful to receive book donations for our library and book stall
from John Maneschi and Joachim. Some of their books and many more
went to the Sand and Psyche Sandplay Conference with our bookstall,
resulting in a most welcome boost to the Jung Society’s funds. I’d
like to thank Committee members Stephen Goodfellow, Lesley Hamlyn and
Louise Fanning for their great work in achieving this along with ex-
President Jacinta Frawley who ordered in the sandplay books.

As it is the end of the year I would like to thank the entire
Committee for their fantastic work throughout the year; their
generosity of time and energy as volunteers has been exceptional to
the Society’s great benefit. Stephen Goodfellow, our Communications
Officer, is resigning this month, and I’d like to take this
opportunity to thank him for the enormous amount of work he has put
into the Society over the last 3 years. Rich in computer and
technical know how, Stephen has worked tirelessly on our website,
membership and library databases, broadcast emails, Newsletters and
this year’s Hillmania event. He has also contributed his marketing
expertise and his passion for books, through his very successful
running of the Society’s bookstall. On behalf of all of the Society I
would like to thank him for all that he has done for us and wish him
all the best for his next endeavours.

Finally I would like to thank all of you for your support and
involvement with the Jung Society this year. May you have a very
enjoyable festive break and a happy start to the new year. I am
looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible in 2007.

Best wishes
Sally Gillespie
