Subjective and/or Group/Gang Rage - Mental Illness   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #727 of 793 |
Heard it said recently that Road Rage has been stated to be a form of mental
illness. Has anyone heard of this or have anything on this?

Where one could say one's existential condition and associated mental state
could be responsible for regular outbursts of rage, it is difficult to accept
this as a form of mental illness. That is why i had questioned what came before
what. I find it difficult to believe that altered chemical levels in the brain
are alone responsible for the individual's seemingly sudden rage. I do not
believe there is such a thing as a "sudden rage". Rather i perceive the
explosion as a build up of energy, this build-up always relative to the
individual's existential condition/experience.

Of course u also have group rage, group attacks of violence, rape or rage. Do we
then define this as a group mental illness? This also brings into question the
notion of a chemical imbalance being responsible for certain types of behaviour.
Do members of the group all share the same chemical imbalances, or perhaps as
Deleuze suggested, the group as one energy is corrupted, if one energy
corrupted, could it be defined as a group illness/mental illness ?

Hugs
Elaine
