Dear Members and Friends

I am delighted to welcome Joan Harcourt as our guest speaker on
Saturday and workshop leader on Sunday .The subject of her talk is
The Crone, the Archetype of the Wise Older Woman, and her Body Soul
workshop which follows explores the developmental tasks and
experiences of aging through meditation, discussion and the
expressive arts. Joan is a body psychotherapist who practices in
England. She has completed the BodySoul Rhythms Leadership Training
program with the Marion Woodman Foundation, and is a passionate
teacher of Marion Woodman’s work. Please come and join us in meeting
with Joan, and considering at depth a subject that is absolutely
relevant to us all. ( Please click here for further details).

Bo Robertson was our guest speaker in September in the Cinema and
Psyche Event; Myths to Live By: Pygmalion as a Modern Concept of Self-
Fulfilling Prophecy. Bo considered both fairy tales and movies to
engage the audience in a consideration of the difference between
transformation and transmutation, and the roles of both mentor and
pupil through the journey of personal change. This was an engaging
talk, vividly brought to life through wonderfully entertaining film
clips from My Fair Lady , Muriel’s Wedding and Educating Rita. My
thanks to Bo for such an interesting and original evening which kept
the audience talking long after her presentation finished.

There are a number of upcoming events which may be of interest to
you. Alana Ruben Free , an American playwright who has been deeply
influenced by the work of Marion Woodman is staging her play Beginner
At Life at the Tap Gallery from October 15 to November 1. Please go
to http://www.beginneratlife.com.au/ for further details. I also
attach a flyer for a panel discussion at Toxteth Hotel in Glebe on
the subject of Local Activism being held this Thursday, October 9.
It’s a great topic and all proceeds go to support projects in East
Timor. And while you have your diary out please make sure you have
marked our final talk for this year, The Inner City of Sydney with
Craig San Roque and Erica Cordell, on November 8, followed by our
Annual Christmas Party at Captain Torres Restaurant.

Finally you can also find here an attachment about a free ANZSJA e-
publication of the Proceedings of the 2007 Melbourne conference, The
Uses of Subjective Experience, which is a rich and fascinating read.

I hope to see you soon at the many great events coming up.

Warm regards
Sally Gillespie
