C. G. Jung Society of Sydney

"OEDIPUS"
6.30pm, Saturday 14 March
See program - http://www.jungdownunder.com

This Saturday we are delighted to be welcoming Roger Brooke as our
Guest Speaker following our brief Annual General Meeting at 7pm.
Roger Brooke is a clinical psychologist and Professor of Psychology
at Duquesne University, and the author of Jung and Phenomenology. In
his time with us he will be presenting Jungian perspectives on
psychoanalytic theory and practice. On Saturday Roger will take a
look at Oedipus through fresh eyes with a focus on psychological
development through the life span. On Sunday his workshop The Family
Romance, will present and explore a Jungian model of infant and child
development from both clinical and personal perspectives. Don’t miss
this unique opportunity to meet with Roger and hear his highly
original work on developmental process. Please click here for full
information on the talk and workshop.

The Annual General Meeting, which precedes Roger’s talk, will be
brief. The main item on our agenda is the election of officers to the
Executive Committee. To do this we need a quorum of members, so
please do arrive by 7pm and be ready to support an excellent
Committee who I am delighted to say are all standing for re-election
in 2009 to continue their outstanding work for our Society.

Last month we were most fortunate to have Ernest Hartmann, a
Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University as our Guest Speaker.
Ernest is a renowned dream researcher, who has published and lectured
widely. In his talk Dreaming, Weaving Threads Between Self and World,
he summarised his research of clinical work on dreams after trauma,
with particular focus on the Central Image of the dream, its
emotional power and its ability to integrate trauma. Ernest showed
that central images in dreams tend to be stronger after traumatic
events, and discussed the similarities between dreams and poems.

For those of you who would like to explore dreams further I am
facilitating a course starting on Wednesday April 29th entitled
Engaging Dreams. This six meeting course will inform your
understanding of dream process and stimulate your dreamwork practice
as you learn about dreams through discussion readings, videos and
your own journal work. (Click here for full details)

For those of you who want to explore the world of dreamwork and
research further abroad the International Association Study of Dreams
will be holding their Annual Conference in Chicago this year in late
June. The theme of the Conference this year is Earth Dreaming and to
find our more you can go to www.asdreams.org/2009 or contact Dr Susan
Benson who is the Association’s Australian representative at
smbenson@...,

The James Hillman Reading Group led by Peter Dicker, psychologist and
Hillman scholar is filling fast. This group will meet for the first
time on March 20 at Annandale (full details click here). Again
numbers are strictly limited so please register immediately if you
want to attend.

Looking forward to meeting with you soon
