Karachi SPIN provides a forum where software professionals come together to share ideas on software process improvement which would benefit all participating organizations. Karachi SPIN is a commercially neutral, non-profit organization, although meetings and other events are sponsored.

The Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN) is an initiative by Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg. It is comprised of individuals who want to improve software engineering practice. The individuals are organized into regional groups called "SPINs" that meet and share their experiences initiating and sustaining software process improvement programs. They meet annually at the Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) Conference, which is co-sponsored by the SEI and a regional SPIN.
