We have finalized a deal to purchase Kinne's Minni's Pickled Pepper son of
Doc Holiday the 1995 NPGA Champion Buck. He will be joining Rocking M
Productions to breed with our Nubian doe. We are anxious to go and pick
him up in about a week or so.... MaMa goat has to have her kids first.
Has anyone ever done a study or read a study about the time of year (heat)
having an impact on the number of buck or doe kids? There was an article
in the last MEMO that Hight temp favors female, Low temp favors males. It
continued to state that breeding early ina does cycle would favor females.
Any thoughts?

Hi Margi, I havent a clue how the neighbors and you could live with this.
I keep Bees in and out of the city, Gee Im in constant fear. The Bees and I
will be moving to Ok in jun-jul time frame. I will be picking up my girls
in may. I will be driving to my sons graduation and at the same time pick
up the girls. My aunt an I will be driving her van with the girls also in
the vean in carriers. This my be the utmost......
Scotti
Scott,
I haven't figured this list out yet. But let me introduce myself.
I am the Kinder Goat Breeders Assoc. Registrar and the President of the
Puget Sound Kinder Goat Club. I live in the city and have only 3 does...but
somehow these girls have become a much loved hobby.
I took the babies away today and started milking. The neighbors are
suffering through the screaming does tonight! Right now I wonder how I can
ever go this long without milking but talk to me 4 months from now and I
will say I am tired. I have many customers just waiting for the cheese and
fresh milk. Legally, I cannot sell it so they enjoy much of it at my
expense and a small donation to the baby goat fund.
If anyone has any questions about Kinders, feel free to ask. If I don't
know an answer, I will find out. For those that are just starting...get
ready! These girls are easy care, loving, but somewhat addictive.

Actually, my husband finished the registration part. I went to the site and
still couldn't figure it out. How does this work? Do I go to the website
and do something there? Do I simply respond to other notes? Guess I need a
map...draw me a picture.

Hello Lynn,
Welcome to the Kinder List. I hope you have had a chance to visit the KGBA page
and learn more about these wonderful animals. I am sure glad that I added the
Kinders to my herd and can not say enough good things about them. I am finding
that they are such easy keepers and are such a joy to watch and can give us such
good tasting milk to top it all off.
Truly is both of best world!
Again Welcome,
~Ramona

With our Kinders, I have never felt a need to flush -- multiple births are
already so common in our does. With one older doe our vet suggested trying
reverse flushing before breeding her to try to back her off. Her previous two
years she had given birth to sextuplets (not all survived), then quintuplets
(all survived), and at age 6 we thought that fewer would be better. Don't
know if it was her own body or the results of the reverse flushing, but she
did back off to triplets.

Hi Lynn,
Welcome! Have you had a chance to see the Kinder Goat website? There is a lot
of information there at: http://members.aol.com/KGBAssn
There are lots of good people willing to answer your questions. Kinders are
great little goats. You are correct -- the best of both worlds are found in
them. We haven't heard from South Dakota before -- glad to have you. This is
a brand new list, so we're just beginning to get started. Should be fun!

Hi
My name is Lynn. We just bought a 25 acre farm and I am interested in
getting some goats for our little farm. I don't have any yet and I
don't know much about them. I do know that I want either Nubians or
Pygmies. Then I found this list and thought what a wonderful
combination. Best of both worlds here.
So far we just have chickens, a rabbit and ducks on our farm. Of course
there are my Shelties too (I am involved in sheltie rescue also).
So I think I will sit back and watch and learn all I can.

You are right -- they would be 1/2 brother/1/2 sister, but it would be a
start as long as you understand that you have a higher risk of getting some
cull kids in there too. Save the very best and then the next cross with an
outside buck will broaden your gene pool.
Pat S.
I have one buck and two doe.... I am correct in my calculations that:
If I keep a buck and doe from each pair of the K1 offspring that I can
cross them (a+c) and (b+d) that I will have two pair of K2 that can be
crossed one more time for K3 offspring. Then I will bring in new Kinder
stock Buck.
Right??!!

I contacted Kathie in ID last night. She has several straws from several
bucks. The problem is that her straw costs start at $100.00 and go up from
there. The shipping is also over $100.00. So we are considering
purchasing another buck, or I have one more doe to kid this season, I may
wait and see what she throws... the only problem is that he would be a son
of Rocky. This is complicate the breeding options (right?)
Have a good day,

Hi,
I'm not sure that I understand your question. If you're talking about the
Nubians, you need to see if there is any Pygmy semen available if you want to
AI one of them -- Kinder would only be used on Kinder. I'm not sure how many
people are collecting their Pygmy bucks. Last I knew, it was not common
because AI was not common for Pygmies. It would be worth checking around,
however. Just make sure it has been collected professionally, and labelled
properly so that there will be no problem registering the offspring. The
registration procedure then is done like ADGA does theirs -- I'll have to
check and see exactly what is required. Does this answer your quetion?
Pat S.
We figure we will breed Rocky to one of the girls for sure. But we haven
tossing around the idea for AI on the other doe. What are the
advantages/disadvantages of using pygmy or kinder. I am torn as to what is
the best idea.
thanks,

AI has not been used much in Kinder breeding yet, but the first bucks have
been collected so there is some semen available now -- in the Northwest, and
in the Midwest (upper and middle -- and just this past fall there was a cross-
country exchange made). Bio-Genetics, Ltd out of Everett, WA, but with a route
that covers the US, even has some Kinder semen that will be listed in their
catalog.
AI offers opportunities for breeders not available otherwise, and the results
will be as good as the donating bucks and the technicians who do the
insemination.
As far as I can remember, there has only been 1 Kinder registered -- 'way back
-- that was from an AI breeding. It was a first generation buck that was the
product of a Nubian doe inseminated with Pygmy semen. I would like to see more
people participating -- it is time!
Pat S.
Glad that you have joined the list. Do you currently raise Nubian, Pygmy,
or Kinder goats? (or others.... i'm partial)
The list is rather quiet... we are just getting going. If you have any
questions just type it on up.

Hi --
Tattos are required for registration -- size doesn't matter. I tattoo my
Kinders and Pygmies with the same set. Just so they are readable.
Pat S.
1. Are tattos required for registration?
2. Does the size of the tatto matter... I have .3 set for my Pygmy

Hi Sandra,
My personal homepage address is only good for 1 more week -- then I have to
set up a new one somewhere -- am looking into agdomain.com.
About the pictures, when I go into the website and click on the photos
scattered throughout, the full address of each shows up at the top of my
screen (I'm using AOL4.0). I f yours doesn't do that I need to know what
pictures interest you and I can get those to you. There are just too many to
send them all.
Pat S.
Pat,
I had your personal home page address, but now I can not find it. If you
would like I will put a link from the KinderGoats Home Page... just let me
know the address.
Re the photos: in addition to the page address I need to know the name of
the file and sufix ie for my page it is something like
