Description

NOTICE to all U.S. business, educational, industrial, utility, city, county, state government, and Public Safety radio users and licensees: Is your private LMR/SMR two way voice dispatch, paging, data, or SCADA radio system ready for the FCC's January 1, 2011 and 2013 Part 90 VHF and UHF "narrowbanding" compliance dates? Non-compliance may mean license cancellation and the loss of legal use of your radio system frequencies.

The mandate applies to all conventional and trunked voice and data networks currently operating on legacy wideband (25 KHz) analog or digital RF channels in the 150-174 MHz (VHF) and 421-512 MHz (UHF) bands of the wireless spectrum.

The objective of this moderated group is to help licensees learn about, better understand, plan for, and effectively comply with the mandate. For background information and official details, follow these links:

Additional information and resources are available in the Files, Links, and Message Archive areas of this group.

All constructive questions, concerns, experiences, insight and responsible comments from affected licensees, end-users, system managers, system integrators, RF communications engineers, manufacturers, vendors, technicians, service shops, policy makers, regulators, licensing services, frequency coordinators, and others interested in the narrowbanding mandate are encouraged.
