This sounds like an ideal application for
a Lectrosonics DM1624 (or one of it’s brothers). A “router”
uses a “matrix” to do the routing. By using the presets on the
DM1624, the wireless mike(s) can be “routed” to any room or
combination of rooms at the push of a single button. Likewise, the rooms can
be combined in any combination with the wireless mikes assigned as needed. The
DM1624 has 24 presets which should be able to handle any combinations that you
can think of. Also, you can change the routing in real-time for something not
covered by the 24 presets and then cancel the changes the next time a preset is
activated.
A DM1624 has 16 inputs and 24 outputs.
Enough for most situations. If more are needed, they can be ganged to increase
the inputs/outputs and the presets can be carried from one to the other.

combining systems
I'm looking for ideas for handling sources like wrls
mics, which need
to be routed to ONE room only (at a time) in a combining system. If
rooms get combined with the room containing the wrls mic, of course
then they should hear it too. This is a little different than a
matrix, rather a 'router' of the source.
