A little positive environmental news - food-related of course - for
your holiday:
FallenFruit.org is an interesting organization in the Sliver Lake
area, that is mapping the location of public fruit-bearing trees for public
gleaning. While there are few edible fruit bearing trees planted in public
areas within our city, there are plenty of trees which overhang public
right-of-ways, or are abandoned, and this organization is mapping them.
Coupled with the small program TreePeople has for partnering schools and
nonprofit organizations in planting edible fruit trees, we have the start of
Esperanza's program (Legacy p. 129).
