Allowing for the impact of a comet to slow down the revolution of the earth to a 30 hour day--had to be cataclismic--a sudden one time event. The earliest recorded history--however challenged by math--If it slowed the earth enough for the early recorders to notice--and I think they would notice the difference between day and night--what made the world speed up in such a short (relatively) time?
Early agricultural man --before towns and writing was living off the sun and stars. Failure to Plant at the right time could mean a starving year to come. So i think they paid attention. Advance a tad to cities and early writing---they may have used a 30 hour day and 300 days--for announcing holidays and religious purposes--But I guarantee the average working guy didn't get up on Monday morning at 6:00 AM and work until noon on Tuesday. While I am thinking about it--how did they guage a thirty hour day? If it was by the sun--it goes back to my question--what made the earth suddenly (relatively) speed up? And if it did--how were they marking time?
Understand that the Bible -especially Genesis--is the writing of one people--and perhaps only a small percentage of those people--to establish a creation story--. Methusalah is held out as the oldest living human of the past--does any one think he ever got beyond 94?
Note this is not an attack on belief systems--just an appeal to credulity.

Joe

Subject: [LexiLine] more evidence for a preflood 300-day solar year.
Greetings,
In my last posting, I presented evidence that a preflood year lasted 300 days and that the preflood day lasted 30 hours, and a preflood nite in June, around Ninevah lasted about 10 hours. You can read the details here:

I mentioned that David Fasold also claimed a preflood year lasted 300 days, but he had 2 different arguments for his claim. One argument is very detailed and is based totally from the book of Genesis. I'll not go into that argument now. However, I will go into his other argument.
The now-deceased, David Fasold, wrote a book called 'the Ark of Noah'.
I have heard David Fasold lecture and talked to him. He was brilliant.
He reminds me of Indiana Jones. In his book, he makes a great case for
a 300 day pre-flood year using and ancient inscriptions/tablet.... from a Babylonian/Chaldean priest named Berosus, in his book called 'Babyloniaca'. Here is his version of the King List which has come down to us:
===========================================
King City Year
Aloros Babylon 36,000
Alaparos Unknown 10,800
Amelon Pautibiblon 46,800
Ammenon Pautibiblon 43,200
Amegalaros Pautibiblon 64,800
Daonos Pautibiblon 36,000
Euedorachos Pautibiblon 64,800
Amempsinos Laragchos 36,000
Otiartes Laragchos 28,800
Xisouthros Unknown 64,800
--------------------------------------
Total: 432,000 years
============================================
You will remember, from Genesis 5, that there are 10 people in Adam's
lineage from Adam to Noah. Fasold believes these 10 people are none
other than the Kings listed above!!!
The table says that King Aloros lived 36,000 YEARS. That is WAY too
long for anyone to live. Fasold believes that the word YEARS is a
MIS-TRANSLATION, rather, it should be DAYS. So, the sum of all the
days of these 10 kings is 432,000 days. If a preflood year consisted
of 300 days, then to find the number of years, simply divide:
432,000/300 = 1440 years
Now, the Bible makes it very clear, that there were 1656 years before
the flood, so why 1440 years?
Well, the reason is because Adam did not start reigning until he was
216 years old! (Adam lived 930 years total). Why 216 years old?
Because it took awhile before the population grew enough to warrant
having a 'king'. In support of this, consider:
Gen 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat [a son]
in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
Adam, called Aloros in the above king's list, was 130 years old before
he even had SETH.
Prior to this, who would Adam be a king to?
Ok. I'm not claiming that Adam didn't have other daughters, and I
there is evidence, that Adam likely had lots and lots of kids and
grandkids. But still, by the time Seth was born, i.e. when Adam was
130 years old, there weren't that many people on the earth. So, if
Adam started reigning say 86 years after this, when Adam was 216 years
old, and then 1440 years later, the flood happened, i.e.
216 + 1440 = 1656 years --- the year the flood happened!!!
The above Kings list, says that ADAM (ALOROS), reigned for 36,000
days. So, since 300 days was 1 year, then how many years did Adam reign?
36000/300 = 120 years.
Adam reigned 120 years.
Well, consider a possible link to this in scripture.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man,
for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and
twenty years.
'his days' --- the days he reigns
'man' -- the Hebrew word, here, is ADAM!!!!
------------------------
Adam reigned 120 years.
