hey there,
just got my link station HD-HLAN 160Gb. I've managed to set up most of
the features, but when I tried to install my printer I hit a brick
wall. I knew that the 2-way functions on the printer would not work
when I ordered the linkstation, but I was under the impression that I
would still be able to print. Can anyone give me any clues(or even a
step by step guide if it's not 2 difficult)??
I'm running XP by the way.
thanks in advance,
Paul

<http://linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Lexmark-X1100>

You've got to install CUPS as it seems, and probably also compile the driver.
Not easy for
newbies but generally possible.

at first look if the printer is really recognized in
http://<linkstation-ip>/cgi-bin/usb-info.cgi

normally getting a Printer to work is just a matter of enabling the
Print Server on http://<linkstation-ip>/cgi-bin/usb-printer.cgi and
then choose "Postscript" as a printer type.

if this does not work then it seems that the specific printer model
(or all lexmark printers?) triggers this problem.

My Linkstation HD120 fan has finally failed. I was able to remove it
from the chasis and am looking for any information on a replacement.
Yes I know I can just replace it with a like one, but I'm looking for
one with the wiring harness intact. I looked on eBay for parts but
nothing. I have been to the following sites:
http://www.kurobox.com/mwiki/index.php/Fan
http://www.linkstationwiki.net/index.php?title=Fan_noise

This page has what I want, but HOW DO YOU BUY IT???
http://www.kuroutoshikou.com/products/kuro-box/kuro-box_parts.html

Does anyone know where I can get this part?
Does anyone have any spare parts???

Any help is appreciated.

i think you can replace it with any
40 x 40 x 10 mm 12V fan. i would search for a silent one and buy
it...it should have 3 three pins so it can be controlled from the LS.

then just cut the cables, solder the cables from the new fan, close it
and everything should be done.

Hi. I have recently replaced the fans in both of my Linkstations.
You will find that a fan complete with the wiring harness will not be
available, as the fan is wired into the same multipole plug which
also feeds from the power supply, you will have to cut and solder the
leads, I am afraid, or ask someone else to do it if you cannot solder
yourself.

If you don't detail it: on your own, I'm afraid.

I'm hosting the kernel 2.6 for PPC based Linkstations on my website, <http://

Hi everyone,

I have the Linkstation 250 GB PPC model. Everything was fine,
until last night, when I powered it down. Since I've powered it up,
I've been unable to connect via ftp as a registered user ("connection
refused"). I don't know why this is. I checked the configuration web
pages and everything is as it was. I logged into my unit and checked
the logs ... there are no error messages in the logs.

The only thing that seems abnormal is that the ftp server
does not appear to be running. I don't know why that would be --
again, I made no changes to the configuration between powering it
down and starting it up again.

Does anyone know how I can get the ftp server running again,
and make sure that it keeps running across restarts?

	 Thanks,
	 Marc

Basically, when I enable "registered users," the ftp server is shut down. Does
anyone know
why?

I have the linkstation 250GB LS2 (mipsel) running a full version of debian.
I installed lighttpd php-lite fast-cgi and torrentflux. Torrentflux works great, except it doesn't display the static content (gif images).  Also, static html pages will not work.  It appears that lighttpd is causing my problems.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? Anything would be highly appreciated.
