I posted a comment this morning on a Huffington Post piece by Craig Newmark
(http://tinyurl.com/n84m6z). Instead of registering with Huffington Post to
comment (they still require registration to post moderated comments, which is
sort of sad) I used my Facebook account, an option that Huffington Post
provides.

When I posted the comment I received the reply that the comment was being held
by Huffington Post for moderation. When I checked with Facebook I saw my comment
had already been posted. My comment was later moderated and approved by
Huffington Post.

Is the moral of this story that using Facebook Connect is one way to bypass
moderation restrictions imposed by some web sites?

The same thing happens if you use coComment - the comment shows up at coComment while it waits for moderation at the blog. I've even "recovered" a comment that...

That might be what the site owners have in mind. On Facebook, it's typical for people to use real names and other identifying information. That might be...

I hadn't thought of that - you're right.. I'm always amazed at the number of "anonymous" comments on the big public blogs. Still, another possibility is that...
