HEROES NEEDED: Sat. 11/21 LPZoo to host bone marrow registry drive for 9/11 firefighter who got cancer from WTC dust. Come meet him, save his life. Better than $$$ to charity

Lincoln Park Zoo is inviting Chicagoans to join the bone marrow registry and be a hero for a hero.

Sat. Nov. 21 - Lincoln Park Zoo from 9:30a to 3:30p. FREE
Directions http://tinyurl.com/IMaHeroLPZoo

Sun. Nov. 22 - Evanston's McGraw YMCA from 9:30am to 3:30 pm
Directions http://tinyurl.com/IMaHeroEvanston

Joining the registry is free and easy, and can, literally, save a life. A swab of the cheek is taken and the tissue type is added to the registry. That's it.

The drive is being hosted in honor of Roy Chelsen, a New York City firefighter with Chicago ties, who was a first responder to the World Trade Center attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

He is credited with saving the lives of six other firefighters that day. Because of his heroism following the terrorist attack, Roy is now in a fight for his own life. Roy, like several other 9/11 first responders, has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a FATAL immune system cancer.

A bone marrow donor could save his life – but he needs to find a match SOON. You could be the one who saves his life.

While the economy this year has been frightful , Out of Work Chicago wants to make one night for you delightful!

As Chicago’s premier networking organization for those seeking to find or improve employment, we are hoping to provide the office party experience so many will be missing. Be a part of our “Company Party for those Without a Company”.  After our families, some of the people we are closest to are co-workers. The workplace secret Santa, camaraderie and party are a more significant part of the holidays than you realize – until you don’t have them.

We have been lucky enough to enjoy a great year of growth and excitement while helping our members, and we want to continue that right into the New Year.  The Mid-America Club in the AON Building has been generous enough to host the event for us and we want you to be a part of it!

We want to give you a night of holiday fun and lighthearted entertainment with good food and drink, a chance to win gifts, dance to a live band – and of course, network.

$10 will gain you entrance to this event AND like any company holiday party we want you to bring a guest, your spouse, partner, whomever you want to spend this party with!  Your $10 will include entry for your guest as long as they bring either a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots or a non-perishable food item for The Chicago Food Depository.  We will have collection bins for these items at the registration desk.

This fun night will be Wednesday, December 9th from 6-10 pm at The Mid-America Club in the AON building.  To register for this event please go to www.outofworkchicago.com/holiday

Thursday, November 19, 2009, 8:00 to 9:30 AM
Wells Fargo Advisors (Formally Wachovia Securities)
222 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 300, Chicago at Union Station

We all know that being part of a lively and thriving professional network is
important throughout our working lives. And no matter how wide our networks
already are, it's easy to imagine the potential added value of having a few
close, trustworthy confidants really invested in us and in our success. (And
the satisfaction we can get from serving in the same capacity for people we want
to see flourish.)

This month we'll explore taking networking a step farther, and how BNC HR can
fit in to help us meet our future goals.

Keith Ferrazzi is one well-known proponent of going beyond "networking", to
finding at least 2 or 3 close associates to regularly draw on for advice,
accountability, and tough love when necessary to fully become all we can be, and
to do all we can envision. He's the author of 2009's best-selling "Who's Got
Your Back? The Breakthrough Program to Build Deep, Trusting Relationships That
Create Success--and Won't Let You Fail."

On Nov 19, we'll talk about Ferrazzi's ideas, and why and how we can develop
much deeper connections with people we already know. And we will pool
recommendations for other ways to cultivate close professional relationships for
more consistent personal growth and greater career flexibility (through peer
groups, masterminds, etc.)

Each of us will get a better understanding of how to identify and approach
people who might be willing to "have our back" to help us get to new levels of
success. And we'll have ideas to recommend to our peers, managers and staff, and
clients, so they can do the same.

We will then discuss what we want the BNC HR group to be, and ways to make it
more valuable to all BNC members in 2010.

Marcy Jenkins will introduce the topics and moderate the discussion. Please
join us for this important organizational meeting of the BNC-HR.

Agenda:
8:00 – 8:15 Introductions and Networking

8:15 – 8:45 Beyond Networking – Who's Got Your Back, Peer Support Groups, Other
ways to deepen connections

8:45 – 9:15 Where BNC Fits in For You – Ideas for programs, events,
interactions and next steps

9:15 – 9:30 Additional networking and conversations

Note: The venue has limited seating, so please RSVP Bill Reap of Wells Fargo,
our group's sponsor, at william.reap@... (On Thursday AM,
enter from Adams Street – please have your ID ready for the security desk and
give them Bill Reap's name or "Wells Fargo Advisors." Bring your own coffee /
breakfast if you choose. There is a Caribou Coffee located on the first floor
for your convenience.)

If you have any questions please contact Marcy at mjenkins@... or

Please join us for the next gathering of the BNC IT Group. This is one of the two evening networking events that we do each year. Besides networking, we will also celebrate the holidays. Bring a grab bag gift (please, not more than $10), if you want to participate in the grab bag gift portion of the evening.

We will not follow our usual format of a 15 minute presentation followed by speed networking. Instead, this event will feature open networking, a cash bar, pizza, appetizers, and the gift grab bag.The format of our evening event will allow us to have more people attend and will allow people to attend who can not make it to our normal daytime networking lunches.

REALLY - COME HUNGRY - THERE WILL BE LOTS OF APPETIZERS & PIZZA!

Reserve your place. We’ll explain everything during this free Webinar.

Zola will take you step-by-step through the four distinct phases of The Zola Diet. Find out why this is the last diet you will ever have to do.

If that weren’t a bold enough promise, here are four more things that make The Zola Diet different than all the others:

IT WORKS FAST. You lose as much as 30 to 40 pounds in just over a month. And no, that’s not hype. There’s no fine print with the disclaimer that says, "These results are not typical.” These results are normal when you go on The Zola Diet.

YOU REBOOT YOUR METABOLISM. Once you lose, this diet shows you how to eat more calories and better food and not gain weight. Other diets just leave you hanging. This one is designed to be the last one you’ll ever need.

YOU EAT GREAT FOOD: No eating out of a shrink-wrapped package or a drinking from a can. You’ll eat real food that you can cook in 20 minutes or less.

Eat Like a Gourmet. Look Like a Dream

YOU SAVE $$$: The Zola Diet costs less than most of the popular diets. We did a side-by-side comparison and we’ll show you the results.

During this presentation, you’ll learn exactly why people get fat.

ο‚· It’s not lack of will power

ο‚· It’s not lack of motivation

ο‚· It’s not just genetic

ο‚· It’s not laziness or sloth

ο‚· It’s not gluttony

ο‚· It’s not exercising too little

You’ll be blown away by the information we share in this webinar.

You can start the diet anytime you are ready to lose weight.

At The Zola Diet headquarters, we are already hearing from people who are planning which diet they are going to β€œtry” on January 2nd. Instead, we have people are starting NOW.

Why?

Because they realize the best gift they can give themselves is to get to a healthy weight sooner rather than later. You may decide it’s time break the cycle of gaining weight during the holidays and starving yourself in January and February.

You can even β€œcheat” on Thanksgiving and Christmas and still lose about 30 pounds by New Years Day. Lose even more later if you have more to lose.

But you’ve got to have the right information.

You will have it once you have attended the Webinar.

If you’ve struggled with your weight or know someone who has, please let them know about this Webinar. This is life-changing information.

Hi Jennifer,

I am very interested in the contract opportunity described. I am a Senior Recruiter/Senior Sourcing Strategist with experience in a variety of environments including Fortune 100, Big 4, Dot.com start-up, Agency and an interim Staffing organization.

One of the strongest skills that I am known for is the ability to creatively and efficiently fill "needle in the haystack" positions through networking and other creative means

Additionally, I have recruited extensively for administrative positions while with Abbott Labs and with other companies.

My prior experience was as a Talent Representative for an Advertising Photography Studio. In this role I brought in photography projects from advertising agencies, Fortune 500 companies (Dove Ice Cream, Ralston Purinam,
Baxter)

I look forward to finding out more about your opportunity.

Best Regards,
Irene Wolinski
