Hello Everyone,
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), a public university with a strong
focus on research, has attracted some RM20 million from local
investors interested to set up ventures in its new research park-
sains@usm Bukit Jambul park, on Penang Island.
The new research park is expected to house incubator laboratories,
research centres of government-linked companies and multinational
corporations (MNCs), USM Research and Innovation Division Director,
Professor Zainul Fadziruddin Zainuddin, said.
Professor Zainul, who is expected to lead the development of the park
said USM would form a company to manage the park, which would also
feature a boutique hotel, convention and exhibition centre,
performing arts centre and arts colony, together with retail outlets
and apartments.
The comprehensive plan for the development of the park is to ensure a
conducive environment for better interaction among the corporate and
academia, both local and foreign. The research park is expected to
generate economic potentials in innovation, technology transfer,
commercialisation of technology, and will also be a platform for the
creation of new intellectual properties.
Our goal at DK Malaysia is to promote, business development,
investment, trade, and tourism to Malaysia and we serve and assist
MITI, Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia and MIDA,
