Malaysia, the 3rd best outsourcing location   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2060 of 2775 |
Greetings to all our members and readers,

Malaysia retained its position as the third best destination in the
world for outsourcing activities, after India and China, according to
A.T. Kearney's 2007 Global Services Location Index (GLSI).

The GLSI ranks the top 50 locations worldwide for outsourcing,
including IT services and support; contact centres and back-office
support. The ranking took into consideration three main categories-
financial attractiveness, people and skills availability and business
environment.

Within Asean, five other countries besides Malaysia were ranked among
the top 20 locations under the survey. Thailand, which ranked fourth
overall, was second after Malaysia, followed by Indonesia (overall
No.6), Philippines (overall No.8), Singapore (overall No.11) and
Vietnam (overall No.19).

Meanwhile, in an unrelated e-mail interview, Bobby Varanasi, Head of
Marketing and Branding at Outsourcing Malaysia, an association of
Malaysia-based outsourcing services providers,said Malaysia's
competencies in areas like banking, financial services and insurance
(BFSI), energy, retail, technology, logistics, supply chain
management (SCM) are well recognised worldwide.

With such exposure, it was no surprise that five Malaysian companies-
Kompakar Inc Bhd, Scicom Bhd, EZ Consulting Asia-Pacific Sdn Bhd,
Teledirect Sdn Bhd and Vantage Point Consulting Sdn Bhd have made it
to the list of the world's top 100 information technology services
providers under the Global Services 100 list for 2008.

Moving up the value chain, Malaysia is positioning itself to be a
preferred location for high-end SSO services, as well as a one stop
outsourcing centre for multinationals.

One of DK Malaysia's main goals is to promote investment, business
opportunities, trade, travel and tourism in Malaysia and to assist
MIDA, MITI, MATRADE and Tourism Malaysia achieve their goals and
objectives. I look forward to hearing from all of you and have a
great day.

Remember, Now is a good time to Visit Malaysia!

All the best,
