1)The new kernel includes support for Trusted Platform Modules (TPM)
to offer greater security, changes to drivers and other features.

2) Version 2.6.12 supports TPM chips like those found in some IBM
laptops. TPM is a hardware safeguard for critical data such as passwords.

3)There is also improved support for IP version 6, the next generation
networking language, and a feature called “address space
randomisation” �" designed to help block the effectiveness of viruses.

4)Drivers for USB devices and sound chips have also been updated by
Torvalds.
