THE BRITISH PLANT GALL SOCIETY
INSECT & INVERTEBRATE GROUP MEETING
Brocks Hill Country Park & Environmental Centre, Oadby, Leicester.
SUNDAY 14th MARCH 2004
Last year, the Invertebrate Group Meeting formed part of the
September AGM Weekend at the Forest of Dean. It proved to be a most
enjoyable counterbalance to the formal business of the AGM but it
put a lot of pressure on contributors in an already crowded weekend.
So this year, we have reverted back to the old format, with a
separate meeting earlier in the year. Unfortunate delays have meant
that the arrangements for the meeting aren't in the 2004
Cecidological Calendar [which is now due out in late March with the
next Cecidology] and apologies are offered for such short notice.
Leicester/Oadby has been chosen again as a central point for north
and south and the excellent Brocks Hill Country Park & Environment
Centre venue is also the same. The Country Park has been established
on farmland and includes areas of developing woodland, a pond, an
orchard and the adjacent LRWT Lucas' Marsh Reserve. In 2003, the
Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust moved their base to the
Environment Centre.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting. [Maggie]
I trust you will continue to support this group; progress with the
Bedeguar Project is spectacular and we have ideas for further
development covering other groups of insects/invertebrates. If
anyone would like to contribute by way of a talk, please let me
know; the programme is flexible and we welcome as much contribution
as we can attract. If you are able to bring a microscope, please do
so and any specimens of interest. If you are unable to attend but
would like to raise issues in the discussions, please let me know by
letter or email robin.chalcid@....
