Dear Kathleen,
As perhaps you have noted, we are working hard to improve and extend our
World Car/Free Days program (at http://WorldCarFreeDay.com). It's a
fine concept and we have done a lot to advance it of late. This autumn
is the tenth anniversary of our original launching of the program in
Toledo Spain under the Ciudades Accesibles program (in which we had an
important founding role), and we now intend to celebrate that in event
many place and many ways (but not all on the same day, as you can well
imagine).
The question remains, what next with our collaboration with the UN Car
Free Days Programme? We have been approached by several organizations
in and tangential to the UN family of organizations asking us about next
steps and advancing various possibilities of collaboration. However, it
seems only right that we start with you first. Hence this note.
For a bit of context, you may wish to check into the overall lead
program for that luster, the New Mobility Agenda at
http://newmobility.org <http://newmobility.org/> . The themes that run
through all these programs have much in common, all aiming to advance
the agenda of sustainable development and social justice in concrete
ways in all parts of the world based on local action and, where useful,
international collaboration and solidarity.
If you are still interested in cooperating on this, I will be most
pleased to hear from you. If not, I will pursue these other
relationships which we have forged over the years and give us a firm
foundation for active and flexible partnership. This is a great program
and the UN certainly can do a great deal for it.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope that this note finds you and
your loved ones well.
With all good wishes,
Eric Britton
