No convinced there is a list........just prior to downloading, I think, you
get a warning about consumer grade Nvidia cards, but it doesn't say which
ones, as far as I can see.

Log on to the Modo forum on cgtalk.com where there are at least two threads
dealing with Nvidia issues. I'm using an FX1100 with the Alias/Newtek
certified driver at 53.03, but am seeing considerable instability with
display aspects of Modo even then.

Whether they include the FX series cards in the "consumer grade" I have no
idea - perhaps they do, at least the 'cheaper' ones anyway!

Julian.

Well, I will ask again. :)

Since my english is bad and I didn't find anything on luxology.com, I ask
the list if modo is compatible with xsi. In the promo videos, there is a lot
of saying of compatibility with maya, but, well, I don't use him. :)

I modell in xsi and I enjoy that, but after the modo promo videos, I'm
tempted, no denying. So, is there a way to modell in modo and then
import/export to xsi to do textures, lightning, etc?

Really apreciate a answer.

Thanks, best regards,
Mauricio

You can export your models and load them into XSI.

I only have two days left on my temp license. I have received my
shipping noticefrom Luxology, but delivery ETA is oct7. Have checked
the registered products area of my account but am still unable to
generate a perm license key as some posts on cgtalk lead me to
believe I would. Can I generate another temp to get me over the
hump? Not really worried about it , but would like to have a better
understanding as to how it will play out.

Subject: Maya Blendshap and Material problem
nonplanar
Send Email Send Email

Hello,

Whenever I try to export a model to Maya that has both materials other than
default, and
one or more morph targets I get an error message on loading the object in Maya.
The
result is that my blendshapes are there and working, but the materials, although
present
in
the hypershade editor, are not assigned to the geometry.

When I hit 5 (in maya to show shaded) the object becomes invisible.

If I have material without blendshapes, everything seems fine. Or if I have
blendshapes but
nothing but the default material, it seems to work too. However, not combined.

At the same time, if I graph the materials in the hypershade using the graph
selected
command, it will show the shaders are connected.

Can someone reproduce this problem? Know a work around?

This is on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.3.5 and Maya 6

Do you mean materials on the blendshapes or the base mesh?

Well, now that modo is shipping, I was really expecting more info to
pop up on the website Luxology.com. I'm definately going to buy it
once I can afford it (Damn that new widescreen TV!) but in the
meantime, I check the website daily in hope of getting a *fix* I'd
like to learn everything I can about it until I can get my grubbly
little paws on it.
Ever since I saw the presentation at the Neon Art Museum, I start
salivating just at the mention of modo. Maybe you could help out a
brother in need ...screenshots, videos, reviews, free scripts and
plugins, subdivided n-gons, c'mon, I'm desperate here ;-)

Dude! We just shipped! ;)

We are always working on new projects and updates. There will be
information about updates or new products before they are released, but
we want to avoid putting out official information before it is close to
being available as a product.

But it is so much fun to have a company announce a product, set a
deadline for purchase then wait for a whole year after you pay for it
to actually get it. waiting is half the fun ;)

Sorry for the delay, I didn't get an email saying I had a reply.
Unfortunatly I don't have a good response. Combining blendshapes with
sub-object texturing causes a completed change in how Maya connects
its nodes together that the exporter doesn't take into account. It
goes from being a big pain in the ass to being mostly
indecipherable(sp?). Their are a couple things to try. One is to
divide your object up by materials so each object with a morph target
is its own item. The other is to put your blendshapes into other
layers and export it so that your blendshapes each come into Maya as
meshes. Then select them all and turn them into blendshapes in Maya.

The commands to change the viewport by using the shift key and
selecting either the 1,2, or 3 key on the numeric keypad don't seem
to work. Something weird seems to happen when the shift key is
depressed and the assigned macros don't run.

They seem to work when assigned to other keys though.

Luxology what gives? Are you aware of this "bug"?

Is it possible to use different background pictures on multiple views or axis?
I need to model a head and have a profile and a frontal shot of the face but
selecting and readjusting a different picture every time I switch views is
extremely tedious.

Thank you,

I think I've found some bugs related to setting pivots in Modo. If you move
pivots for your objects in Modo they get reversed when you load them into
LightWave or Messiah studio. Also, if you duplicate layers, the Pivots
revert back to 0,0,0 on the duplicate layers. I'm going to guess this is
probably a bug. ;')

Hi,

I have a file where removing four edges at a time will crash Modo, every
single time, but removing them one at a time is OK. It's simply a load of
polys, each with four subdivides, and it's those four edges caused by the
subdivides I am trying to delete.

Modo is so good at so many things, then it'll fall flat on its face over
something like this. Running the nVidia 66.93 driver on an FX1100, in case
this may be related.

Thanks.

Julian.

Turned out to be bad geometry, alot of 2 point polys overlaying good
geometry. Modo couldn't handle it, but fixed it all in LW then brought it
back into Modo. I say Modo couldn't handle it, it was very flaky trying to
work with it, hence constant and repeatable crashing, whereas LW let me do
merge vertices and unify polys.

No excusing poor models, but sometimes you have to do cleanup and the tools
need to be stable enough to handle it. Modo seems not to be yet.

Julian.
