Mound City Archaeological Society Lecture: Dr. John Kelly
Date: Tuesday, November 2, 2004
Time: 7:00PM - 8:30PM CST (GMT-06:00)
The Mound City Archaeological Society -- while encouraging
everyone to excerise their constitutional privilege by getting
out and voting -- is pleased to offer an alternative to tonight's
Election Night hype and hoopla:
Guaranteed to be 100% completely free of political advertising,
"ahokia: The Significance of Tract 15-B and Merrell Tract Excavations
in Cahokia's History" will be presented by Dr. John Kelly, Research
Associate and Lecturer with the Department of Anthropology at
Washington University in St. Louis.
Just imagine it. No concession speeches, no allegations of voter
fraud, and the only dirt will be the kind you scrape with a trowel.
This lecture will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 2 at the
History Museum in St. Louis' Forest Park, and is co-sponsored by the
Missouri Historical Society and the Department of Anthropology at the
University of Missouri-St. Louis. It will be preceded by a short
business meeting of the MCAS at 6:30pm. Both are free and open to the
public and, as always, everyone is welcome.
The Mound City Archaeological Society is the St. Louis chapter of the
Missouri Archaeological Society. This lecture is just one of many
projects that seek to encourage an appreciation of and respect for our
region’s rich cultural heritage. For more information on the MCAS, call
