Do you have any memories of Cahokia Mounds that you'd like to share?
This fall, Professor Anne Valk of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will
devote a class to recovering and preserving the 20th century history of the
Cahokia Mounds site. Professor Valk is looking for people who are willing to
share their memories of the site in audiotaped interviews and for old photos,
newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia that could be copied.
Students will conduct the interviews, which will then be transcribed, copied,
and preserved in the SIUE Archives and the Cahokia Mounds Library. Current and
former volunteers, staff members, board members, farmers, residents,
archaeologists, and others with personal connections to the site are sought for
interviews. Interviews will begin in September and conclude by December 2002.
