MCAS event: "Meet the Archaeologist" Day at Crestwood Plaza, 8/23   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #79 of 223 |
Have you ever wondered about the people who lived here before us? Have you ever
wondered about all the different things that happen before, during, and after an
archaeological excavation? Have you ever wanted to meet and talk to a real
archaeologist?

Your average archaeologist is nothing like Lara Croft or Indiana Jones, and they
do a whole lot more than just "dig up stuff".

From 10am to 7pm on Saturday, August 23, in the Sears Court of Crestwood Plaza,
the Mound City Archaeological Society will bring together a group of
professional, academic and amateur archaeologists from around the St. Louis area
to talk about their archaeological experiences, identify artifacts (no monetary
appraisals), and discuss other upcoming Missouri Archaeology Month events.

Free copies of the 2003 Missouri Archaeology Month poster will be available. "On
the Trail of the First Americans & Missouri's Native American Heritage", a
33-minute video produced by the Missouri Archaeological Society in 2001, will be
shown continuously. Plus a whole lot more!

Take a break from your shopping to experience Missouri's rich Native American
history through photographs, artwork, and the latest archaeological findings.

This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. For more
information please contact Greg Paulus at (314) 704-3507 or
