Although I still have mine it's been a while since I've used it. It's still a
beautiful player and was probably the best of it's time. I've been using mostly
my iPhone now of days but Mpio still is making products and is strong in Korea.

Yes, still a good player, especially with the 1Gb SD card. Only downside is the
time needed to fill the memory with songs with USB 1.1. Having said that, you
can always use a card reader/writer.

Hi All
I haven't stopped by here for ages.
Yes, still using mine.
If fact I've never felt the need to get anything else.
Usage here is mostly in the garden and on the patio. We put some electric lines
around some of the sitting places in the garden and with an old pair of active
computer speakers, hey what more do you need.
Oh, and even still using some of the rechargeable batteries from back then. Now
they've got some time in them.
Well nice chatting to you all again and, keep-on-trucking.

I saw some posts saying that people couldn't get their MPIO FL100 and FY200 to
work with Windows Vista. I recently switched from XP to Vista and the software
(MPIO Manager 2 - v1.8.0.0) seems to be working fine with both the FL100 and the
FY200. I got a blue screen error after first installing the software and driver
but no problems since. It did have to search the computer and internet to find
and install the correct driver (don't know where it found it - from the
installed software on the computer or from the internet) but everything is
working fine now.

I take it that the MPIO manager won't work with Vista? Have you tried
the various software compatibility modes with Vista? You can laways
get a cheap 1Gb SD card and load music onto that and then put it in
your FL100.

After using my HD200 as mass storage device, I suddenly couldn't get in
contact with the device. When plugging in the USB nothing happened, and
if I started the player itself it would stall.

Using disc management (control panel - administration) in Windows, I
was able to see the hard drive, so I formatted the drive (FAT32). The
MPIO Utility software didn't work for me, so I downloaded the
archivefile for mac-computers on MPIOs homepage, unpacked it using
StuffIt (free download), transfered the folder (SYSTEM) and the file
therein to my HD200.

I started the HD200, which seemed to auto-create the standard folders
(MUSIC, FM, etc.). Now it is playing again!!! Great!

Hope some find this info useful.

It seems that MPIO has many new players and they look cool.
I haven't really checked any place for MP3 players.
You can call them and ask them for retail distributors.
I'm staying with my FL100 which still works great.
The best part is the third party FPIO software.
I can DL & upload WMA music to my PC without worrying about DRM.

Thank you for responding.

I already tried to repair the fg100, with the software that you mention,
but it does not work. I send you the code of error.

"firmware upgrade process failed

Error code 0x80070017

please make sure that MPIO player is connected to the pc"

Rare is that the appliance is connected to the PC, I access the folders,
but I cannot record nothing in them, although the MPIO can record voice
and radio by itself.

:(

Ooops, maybe I spoke too soon. After more tinkering, it seems that
the problem lies with leaving the battery in the unit (when not
playing). Turn it on the next day, and I get the "Low Battery"
message again. Changing batteries gives the same message. To
correct the problem, I have to take the battery out and leave it out
for an hour or so.

Hmm, wonder if a reformat of the system memory will fix it. I'm
running firmware 1.33 also, which isn't the latest.

Wow, nobody buys MPIO anymore?

Anyways, I just came across a strange glitch that I wanted to share, in
case someone else who still uses such antiques comes across the same
problem.

Everything was working fine ... 512MB SD Card installed. Loaded a
couple more tracks onto the SD Card, and then I started getting "Low
Battery" warnings no matter what battery I used.

After lots of futzing around, I think the problem is caused by the SD
Card being too full. Can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that
this problem started when I loaded a few more tracks onto the card,
almost maxing it out. After deleting those tracks, everything is okay
again. Or maybe it is the Kingston card ... too lazy to experiment with
another card, seeing that I've already spent too much time fiddling
around and finally got it working again.

Hope this message saves somebody some time ... :-)

I have the MPIO FY500 MP3 Player:

On the FY500, when turned on it is showing that there is 495MB free
space and 0.00 used. However, on the computer and when the USB is
attached, the drive is showing that there are 0 bytes used and o bytes
free. Other times, it might show 495MB used and 0 free even though
there are NO files added!!! Upon trying to format the device with the
MPIO utility, I am prompted with a message that "Windows is unable to
complete the format". I have not been able to load anything to the
device since.

Can anyone help?

Try using something else to encode MP3s. If you're on a Mac, there is a
LAME plug-in for Itunes (at the very least, it will give you better
quality than the Itunes built-in MP3 encoder).

If you're running Windows, throw Itunes in the garbage and get yourself
Exact Audio Copy + LAME.EXE.

I had the same problem.

1. Delete ALL MPIO files from your computer

2. Install ALL MPIO drivers and programs from the CD given to you with your
FY200.

3. Connect your FY200 via USB to your highest speed USB port and wait for XP
notification.

4. Through the "MPIO Manager" there is a "Memory" tab. Click it, and then
click "Format Internal Memory", follow any further instructions they give
you and once it is functional again: DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE!

Feel free to email me if I was unclear with any of my directions. If this
does not work I am sorry but I cannot further assist you for I no longer own
an MPIO mp3 player. Hope I was helpfull.

Hoping someone can help me out here...I recorded ~2.5 hr voice
directly onto internal 256 meg memory..unfortunately battery power
gave up during recording (screen went blank) and while i can see only
56 meg memory available in MPIO manager (and FPIO, I tried both),
there's no file to transfer/upload...does anyone know a way i can
retrieve the ~200 megs of data that seem to be on the player?

Obviously I'd really like to get at it...i'm not averse to getting
nitty gritty with the interface if need be...

Thanks so much!

Riyaz

Call TDK for their MOJO 256F cable.
It's the same cable. I have both units and they're interchangable.
