While the below deals with another service the problem the solution may be
similar in that you have to change a configuration for the service you are
having problems with in Exchange administrator program.

Has any body out there had the following error message. The message
appears in Event Viewer repeated every 15 mins.
An error occurred.
Function name or description of problem: ScGetProxies in MSExchangeSA
for Mailbox
This occurs after the System Attendant service stops due to an access
violation.
If anybody has a solution for this problem it would be appreciated.

If you only have one server, internal messages will be delivered without the
use of the MTA. The only time the MTA will be used if you are delivering
external to the server, e.g. for internet mail.
Hope this helps

Hi
I am an Exchange admin (among other duties). I happened upon this list last
week. There doesn't seem to be much traffic on this list, but I thought I'd
let everyone know about two invaluable resources. I recently needed to move
our Exchange 5.0 sp2 server to new hardware. I figured this would be a good
time to upgrade. I upgraded 5.0 sp2 to Exchange 5.5 sp2. Then I brought up
a new server (new name) and installed Exchange 5.5 on it. During the
process I joined the existing site. I then applied sp2 and began to move
mailboxes and replicated the public folders. After two days I took the old
server down. I couldn't have done it without:
Newsgroups:
microsoft.public.exchange.admin
microsoft.public.exchange.setup
and THE FAQ @:
http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm
In fact, for most basic questions, people on the newsgroups will respond
with a single line that includes that URL. It outlines exactly how to move
to a new server. I used the FAQ and had no problems, even though a previous
admin here had tremendous difficulty attempting this procedure last year.
He failed even with the help of MS. We still had an open ticket with them,
but I never needed to call. (I suppose I should call now to close the
ticket!)
If you already know of these resources, then I am sorry for wasting your
time. If you haven't seen these resources, you are missing out.

I am having a problem with a remote user sending mail.
Workstation: Compaq 6400 -- P2/400 64MB, 6GB, USR 56k modem, NT 4.0 SP5
RAS Server: Compaq Proliant 1500 -- 486 DX2-66 (I believe)...with digiboard
and 4 USR 33.6k modems, NT 4.0 SP3
Exchange Server: Compaq Proliat 3000 -- Dual P2-450...NT 4.0 SP4, Exchange
Server 5.5 SP2
Problem: User tries to send an e-Mail with an attachment or an e-Mail that
is over 1 page and the modem disconnects.
Nothing is reported to event viewer on any server or on the workstation.
Tried 3 different modems, several serial cables, different memory.
Put the hard drive in another computer of same setup...no help
Set the user up on a new PC, problem solved. Put that hard drive in problem
PC...no help.
What do you think: motherboard? hard drive? some setting?

Well, assuming that another user, from another PC can make this work,
then.... Can a different user ID login to this PC and send a similar
message? If another user from another PC can do the same, I would tend to
go along with some setting on the PC. If the attachment is not corrupt,
(which shouldn't matter anyway...) Look to uninstall and reinstall the
client. I can't see it being hardware, although it wouldn't surpass me.....

Hi all,
Quick question - we have an exchange 5.5 server configured as an NNTP
server and IMS only. The News articles are not replicated through
Public Folders, but are accessed via other news readers. Is there a
way to determine how many people are accessing the server for news?
Please reply directly to smeltzk@... as I do not read news
regularly.
Thank you,

What can i do to get MS Outlook bring to my computer new messages just when they
arrive to exchange server?. To know if i have new messages I have to press
Ctrl+M every 15 minutes because the Intranet.
Your sure your on exchange? The reason I ask is outlook and Exchange
collaborate in real time. The only thing that could be wrong could be that
you have personal folders and your delivering to your personal folders. If
you want Outlook to check quicker then you can change that in scheduled
connections. My advice though is to reconfigure it so that you keep your
mail on the server and put your personal mail in the .pst file. That way
you'll get new message notification immediately

Hi,
I would like to know when the time stamp is put on the email. Is it put on

Exchange actually uses the date/time as set up in the control panel.
99% of the time the difference is a result of the incorrect time zone

This is systembyte@..., I've been having a lot of problems changing
my Email with onelist, but I think I got it finally :) If I've already sent
out this message, I apologize, I tried it four times now and I think this
time it should be set up right. I also would like someone to tell me if my
last message before all this went out - It concerns one womans/mans question

would the sender please resend it to this address (v-1ckib@...) so

From: "Fincham, Simon" <simon.fincham@...>
Hi,
I would like to know when the time stamp is put on the email. Is it put on
by the mail server, or buy the isp. We are having a 1 hr delay between the
time on the mail sent and the time on the mail arriving at its destination.
Please can some one shed some light on this.
ps I have checked the bios clock, the nt clock and the xemail server
config.
Thanks

Exchange actually uses the date/time as set up in the control panel.
99% of the time the difference is a result of the incorrect time zone
selected.

I am not even subscribed to this list anymore and I still get emails once in
a while. What gives? I unsubscribed a month ago and stick to the
newsgroups which are much better IMHO.

I am looking for some utility/report/anything that will give a per mailbox
report on the users mailbox usage. I.e., number of messages and combined
disk usage for all messages, with this being broken down by mailbox folder
and finally a summary of the users total usage.
The user can, via properties see their mail box folder size, but not number
of messages. But, then again how many of our users will, with out being
asked, go and 1) look at this information and 2) do something about it.. I
want to be able to target a user, print out this report and hand it to them.
Thanks in advance for any assistance..

If the user hilights a folder, the number of items, and the number of items
unread, appear in the lower left corner of Outlook(98&2K).
Within Exchange Admin in Configuration-->Servers-->*ServerName*-->Priv Info
Store-->Mailbox resources will give you the total storage by volume and
total number of items (incl contacts, etc).
Crystal reports can do at least most of what you are looking for:
