Arne,

As you have gathered from the name, this is fire pixel data from MODIS.
Similar data is also being sent in HDF4 format, and I have software for
reading that data. I hope to extend that software to read and display
this new data, although I do wonder whether one of my existing programs
might read the data as it looks awfully familiar!
