Yes, it is possible to create a new lap by using the present mirror as a "mold" for making a new pitch lap. If the existing mirror is Pyrex or other heat

A Meade DSI I can be bought used now and then at www.astromart.com, as they are no longer made or in stock. A Canon Rebel DSLR camera is another good choice,
