Re: [Maptitude] read only column

Hi Armando,
Well, I realized that what I did was only 'editing' NOT 'rebuild' the table from the dataview. My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Joyce.

Would you please elaborate on what you did to 'rebuild' the table?

Exporting to a ".bin" file would be the best solution.  The number of records should not be a problem.

This problem was posted back in 2005 but I still couldn't get it around:

Mapping my own data of a .csv file, Maptitude decided to make all fields imported as `read only'. There is no option of column setting when I tried to create the new columns. Tried also to change the column setting by right click the selected filed and click off the `read only' box, it didn't work either.

There seems no problem if I map my data from Excel file but I have a rather big file, ~1.4 millions obs. Anyone had a good experience using other file types besides Excel and .csv?

The main issue is still how to change the column settings in Maptitude.
Thanks,
Joyce

Hi Group: Maptitude opens CSV files as read only be default. If you choose File-Save As you can convert the table to the native binary format for full editing....
