1000Planets End of Year report and goals for 2004
2003 was not the best of years nor was it the worst of years. We are still
here and celebrated out THIRD birthday on January 1, 2004.
The two major sources of financial support for the company had spotty
employment during the year and things were not supported in the manner we would
like
but we were able to cover the bills and to move ever so slightly forward.
Things are sure to be better in 2004.
Things turned sour in the spring of 2003 when I had to publicly dismiss
Dustin McBeth. It was hard to do because he was a good worker and was doing a
job
no one else wanted. To date his job has not been filled.
Added to this was the lack of effort by John Cooke, division manager of the
DART division. The DART division has not accomplished anything of note in 2003
and if 2004 does not improve I will be looking for a new Division Chief for
DART when we purchase land for our headquarters.
Also in the spring I dismissed the division head for the Technical Department
and it was 7 months before I was able to find a qualified replacement. The
Technical Department is creeping along but is moving forward.
The new department head Dan Casale has made some important contacts and is
trying to determine the best way to proceed and where we should put our efforts.
Then in September, our web master Seth Matheson quit because no one was doing
anything. Oddly enough he was the only paid employee of 1000Planets, a member
of the Board of Directors, and the fourth largest shareholder but he was
rarely heard from. What work he did was good work but not much of it, which hurt
our progress.
In October Abdul Malik (IAMS) stepped forward and offered to up date the web
site, which soon became am effort to create a whole new site which will be
more user friendly and will contain about 5 times the amount of information.
In mid November Jonathan Duncan, applied for the position of web host and
webmaster and was appointed to that job on January 2, 2004. The new web site and
host should be set up by the end of January if we are lucky.
The Mars Prize was launched but we have not had the necessary time to
establish it in the market place. The Lead on the Mars Prize, Kevin Davis holds
a
full time job and is still in school.
The Marsopolis Chamber of Commerce was established but since I am the only
one working on that so it is slow taking off.
Several other efforts started and stopped and people came and went.
However during 2003 we had 6 more people who earned shares of stock in 1000
Planets, bringing the total number of share holders to 15.
At the next board of directors meeting 1000Planets will authorize the
issuance of another 1000 shares of stock, bringing the total to 2000 shares
issued
from 10,000 shares authorized.
The people receiving shares for 2003 are as listed and the number of shares
each person will receive are also listed. For those who were already stock
holders both current and new amounts are listed as well as totals.
name, current, pervious, total
John Wayne Smith 510 + 510 = 1020
Michael Laine 100 + 180 = 280
Charles Bunch 120 + 120 = 240
Morgan Schafer 30 + 20 = 50
Seth Matheson 15 + 30 = 45
Manuel Cuba 20 + 20 = 40
Francoise Hardy 20 + 20 = 40
Cory R. 0 + 20 = 20
Abdul Malik 20
Dan Casale 20
John Cooke 20
Kevin Davis 20
Dustin Mcbeth 15
Matt Cheetham 15
Jared Dickinson 15
Reserve 40 + 60 = 100
A rush of activity closed out 2003. It looks like we will have another good
crop of stock holders for 2004. So far if it works out Matt Trovato (Ortemus),
Jordan Pelovitz
(Unknown_target) and Jonathan Duncan will join the number of stock holders at
the end of 2004.
Goals for 2004

These are good goals but no Matter what goals we agree on here it all depends
on what each of you can and will do.
At some time in the future I will have to weed out a lot of names of people
whom we no longer hear from. So if you do intend to be a part of 1000Planets
please let Francoise know at hr@....
Apart from that I can only tell you my plans for 2004. In 2004 I am going to
put a lot of effort into The Marsopolis "Chamber Of Commerce" concept. The
"Mars prize" will be a part of that but will remain the responsibility of Kevin
Davis.
The Marsopolis Chamber of Commerce will be the publicity arm of the City of
Marsopolis (to be established either in Nevada or Wyoming). Also it will be a
fan club for space and especially the settlement of Mars.
(If you do not like the name chosen give me a better one)
Secondary items will be to make sure that all of the bills for 1000Planets
are paid, that I keep myself available to help anyone who wants to do or is
doing something, keep records of who does what for the company and to find
someone
who will set up a web site for "Marsopolis Chamber of Commerce."
What will you do?
John Wayne Smith, CEO 1000 Planets, Inc.
