Looking for DS90 Focuser Draw Tube   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #4554 of 4571 |
My canine companion knocked my DS90AT off the back porch a few days ago
(I was unloading after a night at a dark site).

Among other injuries (all easily remedied), the scope suffered the loss
of teeth from the chromed plastic drawtube of the focuser. Meade
doesn't have 'em --- Bill Vorce at Telescope Warehouse doesn't
have 'em. Anybody here have one they don't need? Yes, I could buy
another whole DS90 on Ebay, but I really don't want to do that.

I'm not sure if this uses the same drawtube as the DS70 or DS80, but it
probably does if those are 2" drawtubes as well. The drawtube is
different than the 2" chromed plastic drawtube on the small Meade
reflectors (DS114 or DS130).

Thanks in advance,

Tony M

Jerry, I did look at replacement focusers, and, well, my budget isn't up for a $100+ focuser -- need it all for gas to get to dark sky sites (durn Jeep at...

The same thing happend to me, my DS80 fell over in a freak windstorm. Anyway, I pulled the drawtube out, and looked at where the teeth were missing. I then...

Dan, Now THAT's an idea worth pursuing! I have a hobby shop about three blocks from my house -- no gas needed to get there. SuperGlue I've got. Still...

If you do it, just make sure you pull the drawtube all the way out--Super Glue can fog optics. Dan ... -- Daniel Holmes, danielh@... "Laugh while...
