I guess if you had a ETX-105 w/o an OTA then it might be an interesting project. However since the 105mm Mak OTA should be quite superior to the older 2045...

You must turn OFF the home sensors and never Align on Home in Polar Mode. You simply do a One Star alignment to assure proper polar alignment and you are set....
