If we're talking about the 4504, just use your thumb and finger, never any tools. The plastic of the cradle and ring halves gives a little, but the scope

4504 parting out
Since I have the ETC-125EC, 884 tripod and 497 controller, TelRad and all the high end eyepieces I bought, I really do not need the 4504. I'll go and pull it
