Description

This group is for owners or potential owners of the Meade Deep Space Imager (DSI). The purpose of this group is to provide a location for discussion, questions and comments and for posting images made with the DSI. We welcome you to join and look forward to seeing some awesome images.

Congratulations to Rick Andersen, winner of the December monthly challenge, which was open to all targets.

Rick captured NGC2237, the Rosette Nebula, with a DSI Pro II, Antares 0.5x focal reducer, Orion narrowband filters, and a William Optics ZS 80-II. He processed the image using Hubble palette R=SII, G=Ha, and B=OIII, plus a luminance layer of Ha. Total exposure was 13 hours of 6 minute subexposures.

Capture, guiding, dark calibration, and stacking software was Envisage. Registration in AIP4WIN. Post-processing with Fits Liberator and PhotoShop CS2.

In close second place was Bill Snyder's M42, and Gregory Blount's M42 racked up several votes as well. All three images are fantastic! Images and descriptions can be found at the Meade_DSI Group Site / Files / Challenge Entries Information / 2009-12 Challenge.

Check out our Challenge "Wall of Fame" at Meade_DSI Wall of Fame . Feel Free to also visit our Off-Yahoo Site AutoStarSuite.Net for more forums, information, and member galleries.

While there, be sure to check out the Certified DSI Imager Program .

Where should the Gain and Offset be for Flats?
I was wondering if the settings for Gain and Offset should be the same as when taking the lights and darks. Thanks, Tom
