Finjan Software Finds Security Flaw In Yahoo E-mail Service
Vulnerability Note VU#707100
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/707100
Multiple web-based email services fail to filter malicious characters when
the message contains cascading style sheet character escaping
Overview
An attacker can send a specially crafted email message to a victim
containing malicious scripting (JavaScript, VBScript, JScript, etc.), active
content, or potentially HTML. When a victim views the message with scripting
enabled, the victim's browser will then interpret this javascript which can
lead to several impacts.

Longhorn Alpha Preview 3: Build 4015
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/longhorn_4015.asp
With Windows Server 2003 behind us, it's time to turn our attention to the
more exciting world of desktop computing, where Microsoft is slowly plowing
through pre-beta milestones of Longhorn, it's follow-up to Windows XP. Due
in late 2004 or early 2005, Windows Longhorn will offer sweeping changes
over its predecessors and be the most significant release of Microsoft's
desktop operating system since Windows 95. For developers, consumers, and
business users alike, Longhorn is going to be huge. I've written a lot about
this intriguing release (see my original Longhorn alpha preview and Longhorn
alpha preview 2 for more information) but I present this third Longhorn
alpha preview with some reluctance. Frankly, Longhorn hasn't changed much
since the last alpha build I examined, and it's unclear what all the
excitement is about. But 2003 is going to be a big year for Longhorn
information, starting with an interesting little trade show next week in New
Orleans. So here, at last, is my look at Longhorn build 4015. Suffice to
say, things are going to start picking up soon.

Using the Windows Key
The Windows key can be used in conjunction with other keys to act as a
keyboard shortcut for faster access to menu commands. Now,
while the Alt key tends to open program menus (ex: Alt+F opens the File menu
and Alt+E opens the Edit menu) and the Ctrl key
performs actual operations (ex: Ctrl+C will copy and Ctrl+V will paste), the
Windows key will open various Windows tools.
Windows key + R will open the Start menu's Run box
Windows key + F will open the Start menu's Find window
Windows key + E will quickly launch Explorer
Windows key + Pause/Break will open the System Properties window
Windows key + M will Minimize all windows
Windows key + Shift + M will undo Minimize all windows
Windows key + D will switch between minimizing all open programs and showing
them all
Windows key + Tab will cycle through items on the taskbar
Windows key by itself will open the Start menu
You can also open programs or folders on your desktop by pressing the
Windows key + the first letter of the program/folder/shortcut
+ Enter.
Sounds kinda tedious, but if you're in a bind with your mouse, it can come
in quite handy.

Proper Configuration for Linksys Access Points
http://www.worldwidewardrive.org/linksys/linksys1.html
Proper configuration of a Linksys Access Point can be accomplished in four
simple steps:
1. Assign a Unique Service Set Identifier (SSID)
2. Enable and require use of128 bit Wired Equivalnet Privacy (WEP).
3. Filter access by MAC address.
4. Disable SSID broadcast.
This page will give step by step instructions for accomplishing these four
steps. It should be noted that no access point can ever be 100% secure.
These steps will, however, provide reasonable protection for the home user
as well as a "No Trespassing" sign for WarDrivers.

Mike's Friday Tip ~ Change the Name of A Folder
Sometime you may wish to change the name of a folder.
In Windows there is more than one way;
You can right click on the folder and text box that drops down, click on
'Rename'.
Then type the new name you want for for the folder and click on the 'Enter'
key.
Highlight the folder with a single click and press the F2 key in the top row
of your keyboard.
Type in the new name and press enter.
Single click on the name of the folder then wait one second and click it
again.
The name will be blue in the text box, start typing in the new name and
click anywhere in the window to complete the change.
