Stop-the-Pop-Up Lite is Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP compatible.
Stop-the-Pop-Up Lite is a free pop-up blocker preventing all annoying pop-up
windows from appearing as you surf the web. The popup stopper has full
support for both pop-ups and pop-under ads and will kill them even before
they appear on the screen. Each time a pop up is closed you will hear a cute
sound effect. To allow pop-up windows you can temporarily disable the pop-up
killer by holding Control, Shift or 'a'.

and resides in the system tray when minimized. Stop-the-Pop-Up Lite is
compatible with Internet Explorer It is light on your system's resources and
requires no setup! Pleasant surfing!

Windows XP Services Tweak Guide
http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/winxp_services/index.shtml
Windows XP, just like Win2k & NT before it, runs many background Services
for a wide variety of tasks, e.g. Plug & Play support, Print Spooler & even
Task Manager.
There are ways of optimizing the usage of these Services and configure your
machine for improved performance and even security by modifying their
respective Startup types, and in some cases disabling them altogether. This
guide will take you through a multitude of different Services, how and what
they work for.
Login, Backup & Restoring
Before doing anything else ensure you are logged in as a User with
Administrative privileges. If you aren’t the re-logon as such a User
otherwise you most likely won’t be able to change anything.
Before making any changes to your Services it would be a good idea to backup
the current environment. You can do this by using the Backup utility in
Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Backup.
Another alternative would be to simply backup you current Services & their
settings. Click on Start, Run type in regedit & hit Enter. Expand to the
following
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services].
Now select File then Export & save that registry branch with a specified
name. Simply Double clicking on this file will prompt you as to whether or
not you wish this information to be added to the registry in wish case
select Yes & your previously saved settings will be restored.

Wait! Stop!
Have you ever clicked the wrong link while you were browsing?
(i do this all the time) Don't you just hate that?
You frantically try to get your mouse up to the Stop button before you end
up at the wrong page, but you don't always make it. So, here are a few
suggestions:
If you've clicked the wrong link and still have that left mouse button
pressed down, just drag your pointer off the link to a blank spot and
release. No harm done.
But what if you've already clicked the link and you're off to the wrong
page? Is there any hope?
Yup, just hit your Escape key. That will stop your browser in it's tracks -
it's also a good way to stop an onslaught of pop up windows, should you
accidentally wander onto one of those kind of sites.

Test Your Digital IQ
Audience: Everyone
--------------------
This next stop will be kind of quick, but only because it is REALLY
self-explanatory. Newsweek magazine recently included an unscientific
quiz that let you measure your digital IQ -- in other words, your
familiarity and comfort with technology. Interested in taking the quiz?
Well, instead of hunting down an old copy of Newsweek, just head on over to
http://msnbc.msn.com/Default.aspx?id=3338562&p1=0 instead.
The quiz has 62 questions, some of which test your knowledge of tech terms
and most of which gauge how you use your computer from day to day. And I
want to give a special tip of the hat to Newsweek for coding the test so
that when you answer a question the next one
automatically appears. That was REALLY considerate, and it makes answering
the 62 questions a breeze. In fact, if it takes you longer
than 5 minutes to complete the entire quiz, something's wrong.
Of course, the results are COMPLETELY unscientific. But the digital IQ quiz
is still fun. And, for those who are wondering, my completely unscientific
digital IQ score is 162. :)

Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck.
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves,"
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.
And labor conditions at the North Pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!
The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their rooftops.
Secondhand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur-trimmed red suit was called "unenlightened."
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in overdue compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific.
No candy or sweets ... they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.
He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you've got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere ... even you.
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...
"May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth."
