I'm putting my SR-1s on eBay next week, and wanted to see if anybody
here wanted it first. No meter, no batts. Light-tight, and shutter
accurate for neg film (never ran any tranny through it, so couldn't
tell you EXACTLY how accurate.)

The body is pretty with no brassing, etc. I'll shoot some pics this
week if anybody is interested (since I'll be shooting them anywayz so
I can auction it).

If we deal, I'm willing to COD.

What's your idea of "better"? The f2 is a rockin' lens, with min aperture of
f22 (other 50mm's are f16), light weight, etc etc... I have this lens, a SR
era 50 1.7 and a current 50 1.7 and the f2 is my favorite of them all.

Although the SR lens had a DOF preview button.... ;-)

Consider the MC Rokkor-X 58mm f/1.2, which will still work in "P" mode.
It is an excellent lens, rumored to be a collaboration between Minolta
and Leica (which would account for the 8-blade aperture, which appears
on this manual Minolta lens and no other). I have been extremely
pleased with mine, and it is certainly a better performer than the 50mm
f/1.2, or any of the other 50mm lenses you mentuioned for that matter.
A PopPhoto lens test in 1977 put this lens second overall out of eight
f/1.2 lenses, see the results here:
http://photobluebook.virtualave.net/LensTests/LensTestIndex.htm

The X-700 manual claims that P mode won't work unless you have an MD
lens set to the smallest aperture. Wrong. Have used MC lenses and MD
lenses in P mode, both at their smallest aperture and otherwise, say,
f/8. Minolta's "cybermation" technology has the meter check the
reading a split second before the shutter opens to make any last-ditch
changes in exposure, and thus non-MD lenses work in P mode.

hi,

the 1.2 is the best absolutly no vignetting very very sharp. the 1.4 is better
than the 1.7 but not so aharp like the 1.7 and the 2.0 is waste.

   I have just purchased an X-700 with a 50mm F2.0 lens. I am interested
in obtaining a better standard lens. Would the F1.2 be a better buy
or is the F1.4 just as good. I sold my SRT 101 with its f1.7 mc lens
that was excellent, but I do not know the best upgrade path.

Subject: Minolta X-370, good condition, recently CLA'd, $75 + shipping OBO
torgophile@...
Send Email Send Email

Bought this X-370 as a backup body and kept it as such for 2 years.
Recently had it CLA'd at Camera Repair Japan in Atlanta and have run
maybe 1 roll of film through it since. The CLA was a thorough one:
removed all dirt from the mirror, focusing screen, and viewfinder;
calibrated shutter and meter; even replaced the spring on the rewind
lever.

A few minor scratches in the plastic coating on the bottom plate are
the main indication of use. No dings, no dents, no peeling imitation
leather; cosmetically, it's in much better shape than the cameras I'm
keeping because it really didn't leave the bag that often. Pictures
at http://www.geocities.com/torgophile/X370.html

For those who aren't familiar with the X-370, it's an excellent
student camera or backup body. Electronic shutter, aperture priority
(A) plus manual, stepless speeds 1-1000 (4-1000 in A) and bulb; film
speeds 25-3200, self timer, AE lock, hot shoe, accepts all Minolta MC
and MD lenses.

Asking $75 plus shipping, or best offer. Prefer money orders to
checks; my sorry bank has no physical branches so I must mail in
deposits. Email me off list or place a bid at

i have an old well built two touch 37-105 f3.5 Soligor zoom lens i am
thinking of putting on ebay...but i thought i would give fellow minolta users
first crack. cosmeticaly (on the barrel) this lens has seen some use....the
optics however are as good as new. this is a macro MC lens not MD. anyone
interested make me an offer.

Looking for an inoperable Winder D, Winder G, or one of the generic
off-brand winders. Reason is that I cannot use my 35mm Shift CA on
my Bogen 3047 head without some sort of a spacer between the camera
body and the tripod mount due to the protruding horizonatal shift
knob on the Shift CA. Please let me know if you have anything. Not
looking to spend more than $20 including shipping.

I have a mint condition Quantary polarizer in a 55mm mount.
It is a circular polarizer -- not linear. Circular polarizers work
the same as normal linear polarizers but can be used on any camera.
Linear polarizers cause some problems on some cameras. The
filter is in mint condition, with the original plastic case . The
filter is in a black mount rotating mount. $10 shipping included.

I have a mint condition Hanimex close-up lens. #6 in a 46mm mount.
This should work fine on any Minolta with a 46mm filter thread. The
#6 gets you to around 6 inches -- with the lens set on infinity. You
can get even closer if you set the lens to a closer setting. The
filter is in mint condition, with the original plastic case -- also
mint. The lens is in a black mount and the glass is coated. Comes
with original instruction sheet. $10 shipping included.

Here are a few tips to think about when buying or selling items on
this list. First, it's a good idea to start off your title with
WANTED or FOR SALE -- followed by a brief description -- such as "FOR
SALE: XE-7 with lens". This will help catch people's eye. When the
list gets long, this will be a big help.

Secondly, post your message regularly. If you want to sell that XE-
7, don't just post it once (unless it sells right away). Sure the
message will stay posted on the message board, but I suspect that
most members don't regularly search the old messages. If after a
week or two you still have the camera, feel free to post the message
again. And if you change any of the particulars, such as the price,
make sure to point this out. It's the same thing will WANTED ads, as
well. If you really want to get the word out, post your WANTED ad on
a regular basis. That way, all of the new members are bound to see
it.

Third, if you have an item for sale, don't forget to use the FILES
section of this board to post a picture of the gear. And please
delete the files when the item is sold.

Happy shopping!
