HARBIN, April 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The death toll from the coal mine flooding accident in the northeastern China province of Heilongjiang early Sunday rose to four as rescuers found another body Thursday afternoon, local sources said Thursday. Another three miners trapped in the accident are still missing. The only survivor was rescued around 8:30 a.m. Monday after being trapped underground for 27 hours and is in good condition, according to the sources. By press time, rescuers are continuing cleaning the shafts, which were blocked with rocks and sludge, and searching for the three missing. The accident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. Sunday at the Dongrong No. 3 Coal Mine of Shuangyashan City. The miners had accidentally dug into a mined-out area and caused water to flood into the mine. |
