Li Yincai and Yu Peilin were working with two other colleagues in a mine in Leping, Jiangxi Province when the mine collapsed at 12:00 p.m. on March 26, said Wan Yuhua, vice mayor of Leping.
Immediately after the collapse, the municipal government set up a rescue headquarters and organized 100 people to conduct rescue work, but searched in vain for the four missing miners, Wan said.
On April 10, when rescuers rummaged through the ruins in the tunnel of the caved-in mine, they heard a feeble voice for help and later found the two miners, he said.
After being carried above ground, Li Yincai said he and his fellow worker survived by living on the dropping water inside the mine. Li said that his wife and his children gave him hope for survival.
Doctors said it is a miracle for the two miners to survive by living on unclean water for 15 days in the caved-in mine.
Rescuers are still searching for the other two missing miners.
