Three miners rescued from flooded colliery in Henan
ZHENGZHOU, July 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Three miners trapped in a flooded colliery in Henan Province, central China for nearly 60 hours have been rescued Tuesday afternoon, according to sources with the local government.
The rescued miners were sent to the People's Hospital of Xin'an County, and were now in a stable condition, said an official with the rescue headquarters, adding that rescuers were searching for four other missing miners.
The flooding tragedy occurred at about 8 a.m. Sunday in Xigou colliery of Xin'an County, and trapped seven workers.
The coal mine is amid the overhaul period and its owner fled after the accident, said the official, adding all coal pits and small-size coal mines in the county were ordered to suspend operation for overall safety checks.
